JOB DESCRIPTION The purpose of this job is to plan, lead, organise, coach and motivate Agile project teams, through the application of Agile / Scrum principles and processes, to translate identified Innovation moonshots into deliverable Agile projects that provide game-changing value to customers and end-users. 1. Agile and Project Planning 1) Provide the Agile team with tools and techniques to increase collaboration, innovation, adaptability and flexibility to perform at the highest level. 2) Establish and embed an adapted Agile Manifesto to govern the principles of Agile development within DBSA innovation and moonshot projects. 3) Employ and embed the Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) framework and toolkit to guide the Agile teams’ way of working (WoW) 4) Define Agile project scope(s), schedule(s), sprints and associated cadence cycles, to bring focus to regular and timely delivery of project value 5) Establish, populate and update burn down charts to indicate backlog to be completed versus total sprint time 6) Facilitate Agile Ceremonies to identify action items that have been completed, action items outstanding and barriers to success 7) Oversee and verify that team planning occurs for both current and subsequent iterations to ensure smooth transitioning from sprint to sprint KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 2. Agile Project Management 1) Create a flexible agile universe to incubate identified DBSA moonshot projects 2) Organise and lead daily scrums / stand-ups to conduct effective “plan, do and review” sessions c. Leverage agile and design-thinking principles to drive sustainable Agile implementation 3) Employ the use of Agile Project Management tools (i.e. Kanban, Scrum, Agile, SAFe, PMBOK, PRINCE2) to summarise project statuses, progress, issues and risks 4) Oversee regular team updates relating to story card statuses and collate these into the backlog f. Prepare, package and present information for presentation to relevant stakeholders and monitor and report on key Agile performance metrics to the DBSA leadership team 5) Perform quantitative and qualitative risk analyses to inform consequent risk responses 6) Perform quality control check-ins and integrated change controls to keep project delivery on-track 7) Correct any deviations from the project plan by removing any impediments blocking the Agile team’s progress and shield the team from external distractions and interferences with project delivery to remain on target
3. Process Management and Improvement 1) Define and manage a well-defined Agile project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management 2) Analyse current Agile processes, prioritise areas of improvement, and work alongside key stakeholders to implement incremental improvements
4. Collaboration 1) Manage customer expectations for Agile project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and implementing effective systems of project governance, within the team and with strategic partners, both internally and externally. 2) Lead out and promote the concepts of integration and collaboration across the Innovation projects.
5. Team and Stakeholder Management 1) Foster cross-functional team collaboration to enable strong and consistent Agile project delivery 2) Facilitate team development while holding teams accountable for their commitment to ensure strong team delivery 3) Leverage organisational resources to improve capacity for Agile project delivery 4) Provide transferable skills, frameworks and toolkits to promote empowerment of the team 5) Train team members on Agile, Design Thinking and User Experience concepts and frameworks to promote out-of-the-box solutioning 6) Encourage sustainable project sprints to enable team accountability to Agile project commitments 7) Coach single / multiple team squads to ensure high quality of delivery 8) Coach Executive Management and key DBSA stakeholders on agile ways of working to inculcate an Agile mindset 9) Map and develop a network of diverse stakeholders whose influence is critical to the achievement of identified plans and objectives
6. Reporting 1) Provide oversight and guidance on the quality and accuracy of the reporting compiled by the Programme Co-ordinator (Agile) role. 2) Meet report requirements and deliver timeous and high-quality reports to all relevant bodies, both internally and externally.
