JOB DESCRIPTION 1. The IPP Office’s specific mandate is derived from the Memorandum of Agreement between the DMRE, National Treasury and the Development Bank of Southern Africa which assigns to the IPP Office the implementation of the Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (IPPPP) pursuant to Ministerial Determinations on behalf of the DMRE and covers preparatory and sustaining contract management and monitoring actions to make effective and efficient procurement possible. 2. This is a Fixed Term Contract position aligned with the current MoA. 3. The purpose of this role is to to effectively analyse, manage and maintain IPP Programme data for various IPP Programme requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Design and maintain data systems, including security and backup procedures. 2. Ensuring the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions. 3. Optimizing new and current database systems. 4. Develop and implement a strategy for maintaining data quality and integrity in cooperation with various internal departments, businesses and ICT stakeholders. 5. Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports. 6. Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. 7. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs. 8. Design and maintain dashboards on the MIS to provide business insight. 9. Manage and fulfil Ad hoc queries with regards to modelling of potential scenarios for strategic decision making purposes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
EXPERTISE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES 1. In-depth understanding of database structure principles 2. Experience gathering and analysing system requirements 3. Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques 4. Expertise in SQL 5. Proficiency in MS Excel 6. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Microsoft BI and R) 7. Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques 8. Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks) 9. Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc) 10. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy 11. Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
