JOB DESCRIPTION
A permanent position exists at our Head office in Sandton for a Head: Total Rewards and Shared Services in the Total Reward and Shared Services Department

This role has 5 distinct responsibilities:
1. Remuneration, Benefits, Recognition and Rewards
2. Shared Services
3. Human Capital Technology Systems
4. Employee Health and Wellness
5. Childcare Development Centre

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
1. Conceptualize and lead the execution of the IDC EVP strategy to ensure that the organisation can attract motivation and retention employees that will contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives.
2. Manage effective Remuneration and Benefits specialist services
3. Manage the Reward/Incentives schemes
4. Ensure that the payroll is run successfully and in line with relevant legislation and policies.
5. Provide oversight and support to the IDC Provident Fund and the Board of Trustees.
6. Provide leadership direction and management to IDC facilities i.e., the childcare development centre by ensuring overall sustainability, operational efficiency, and good governance on an ongoing basis.
7. Oversee the effective management of employee health and wellness
8. Oversee the Human Capital shared services function thereby ensuring that the organisation has market leading Human Capital data analytical systems and solutions to drive efficiencies and performance to support the achievement of the strategies and employee value propositions on an ongoing basis.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Strategic Development & Alignment
1. To conceptualise, research, develop and periodically review the following frameworks to achieve the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) for the business and support the overall vision of the IDC:
2. Remuneration and Benefits Framework (including pay systems, structures, policies & budget)
3. Reward and Recognition Framework
4. Heath Wellness Framework
5. Human Capital Technology Framework
6. Childcare Development Centre
7. Shared Services
8. Through the engagement with various stakeholders ensure that all strategies are operationalised by defining clear plans, objectives & targets resulting in the achievement of the agreed strategic framework within the set timeframes
9. To ensure that all subunits within the Total Rewards and Shared Service Departments have clearly defined and implemented policies, procedures, and systems to support the achievement of the agreed frameworks.
10. Oversee the alignment and integration of all Total Rewards and Shared Service Department frameworks to the entire HC function, including performance management, incentives, culture, and other associated strategies.
11. Facilitate, prepare/recommend salary increase mandate on an annual basis ticipate in remuneration negotiations when required.
12. Manage, review and optimise all benefits related processing (provident fund, group life insurance process, long term services awards, pensioners support process.
13. Ensure effective implementation of employee wellness strategy
14. Ensure effective implementation of Human Capital Technology strategy
15. Ensure effective implementation of Child Care Development Centre

Operational Efficiency
1. To provide leadership to the various subunits within the Total Rewards and Shared Services Department ensuring optimal operational delivery of agreed services and support to the organisation daily.
2. To oversee, manage and evaluate the effective execution of various programs, including short-term and long-term compensation plans, medical aid, insured benefit, employee assistance, incentive schemes and other associated programs to be an employee of choice in the industry.
3. To define, review and ensure the implementation of the agreed job grading system resulting in fair and consistent best practices throughout the organisation.
4. Provide advice and support to line management and Human Capital Business Partners on remuneration related issues.
5. Create processes and standards to optimise cost and service delivery of processes to the business

Strategic Analysis and Business Insight
1. To obtain and analyse relevant remuneration data (i.e., industry trends, benchmarks, barriers, risks, and opportunities) and make informed decisions to ensure that the IDC offers competitive pay rates and overall equity throughout the business on an ongoing basis.
2. Ensure that all jobs are accurately graded according to the standards set and support the overall Employee Value Proposition (EVP) goals set.
3. Provide ongoing management support to the HC function in the areas of people metrics, data management, reporting, and advanced predictive analytics

4. Supports the HC leadership team to identify business challenges and use data analysis to help influence changes to the operations, processes, or programmes.
5. Communicates findings to senior management via formal presentations, standard management reporting artefacts on a periodic/quarterly/annual basis.

Finance & Governance
1. With the support of the Finance, Legal and Tax departments ensure good corporate governance of the Total Reward and Shared Service Department ensuring overall compliance with all statutory reporting and other regulatory requirements.
2. To develop and manage expenditure of the annual budget for the subunits monthly.
3. Continually evaluate remuneration and benefits strategy against legislation
4. Conduct annual audit on implementation of remuneration strategy proposals

Leadership
Provide overall leadership and management to the Total Rewards and Shared Services Department to achieve the objectives set of the various frameworks and remain an employer of choice. Including: o optimising staff capacity

4. training and development

Stakeholder Management
1. Serve on various committees (internally and externally) and represents the Organization at appropriate functions, promoting a positive organization image and enhancing public relations.
2. Prepare and conduct training programs or presentations as needed to a variety of audiences regarding matters of remuneration and benefits, procedures, changes, and legislative requirements.
3. Reviews general HC communications/procedures/materials to provide inputs/ feedback in relation to Remuneration and Benefits
4. Acts as coach and trusted COE in the areas of remuneration strategies that will ensure retention to building capability and the implications of short and long-term strategic decisions.
5. Provides consultative advice and guidance on remuneration/benefits/concepts, practices, opportunities, and challenges to leaders, promote adherence to professional standards and regulatory requirements and facilitate continuous improvement in approaches and activities.
6. Provide guidance and expertise to team members in the use and application of remuneration techniques, job evaluation methodologies, position classification systems and salary administration, as and when required.
7. Communicate remuneration strategy in the business and ensure accessibility on SharePoint
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Relevant Post Graduate Degree or equivalent qualification.
MBA or master’s would be an advantage

The following is desirable:
1. A qualification in Business Information Management or Computer Science
2. A remuneration certification
3. Management or Leadership Development Programme
4. Registration with the South African Rewards Association

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
1. A minimum of 10 – 12 years proven experience in managing Remuneration, Benefits and Rewards
2. At least 5 years’ experience in developing strategies around total rewards
3. At least 5 years’ experience in managing a diverse team
4. Experienced Job Evaluation user is desirable
5. SAP experience-desirable
6. Knowledge of remuneration, benefits and rewards methodologies and principles
7. Working knowledge of budget management and control
8. Knowledge of relevant legislation impacting HC
9. Knowledge of EVP programs, principles, and processes
10. Knowledge talent management strategies
11. Knowledge of HR SAP Modules
