JOB PURPOSE To facilitate effective and strategic support to the IDC’ SBUs in relation to the socio economic development portfolio inclusive of the Workers and Community Trust and related interventions.
Reporting Relationship: The Socio-Economic Development Specialist will report to the Manager: Development Advisory Services
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Internal / Operational Processes 1) Provide support to SBUs in respect to the operationalisation and management of Community and Workers Trust and other related socio-economic development interventions. 2) Ensure submission of reports to the Manager: Development Advisory Services, IDC Exco, the IDC Board and external stakeholders 3) Undertake monitoring activities on identified projects in the SED portfolio 4) Facilitate collaboration with relevant internal department and business units 5) Contribute towards the organization’s new strategies on Socio economic development 6) Ensure that IDC’s socio-economic development standards and procedures remain aligned with current legislation and best practices 7) Ensure that the team targets are monitored and delivered upon 8) Participate in the review and update the IDC’s socio-economic development policies to ensure alignment to changing circumstances and best practice on a regular basis. 9) Maintain contact with the regulatory authorities in areas of IDC operation aimed at elevating IDCs contribution to national and provincial dialogue on key aspects relevant to IDC’s investment portfolios. 10) Coordinate and contribute toward relevant capacity building interventions on socio economic development and social aspects within IDC and with relevant stakeholders. 11) Provide direct support to Community and Workers Trusts in the portfolio
Customer Focus & Stakeholder Management 1) To effectively interact with different SBUs and departments in order to fulfil the process requirements 2) Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 1. Minimum qualification: relevant commercial Degree or equivalent qualification. 2. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, which may include socio economic development sciences.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1. 5- 8 years relevant experience in the Socio-economic development or related field. 2. Extensive knowledge in working with and supporting Community, Workers Trusts and similar structures 3. Understanding of the legislative requirement relating to Socio Economic Development 4. Knowledge and exposure to a variety of industry sectors. 5. Experience in engaging, managing and negotiating with relevant specialist bodies, governmental bodies, socio economic development groupings, etc. 6. Experience in interacting and presenting to Senior and Executive leaders and various committees. 7. A good understanding of the IDC’s operations. 8. Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment 9. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while building effective relationships 10. Extremely organized and persistent, with drive and determination to achieve goals. 11. Extensive experience in socio economic development 12. Good understanding in formulation and implementation socio economic development strategies
