ABOUT

The Corporate Secretariat, headed by the Vice President and Corporate Secretary, is the focal point for communication and collaboration among the Board of Governors, Board of Directors and AIIB’s management. Among its responsibilities is to plan and organize the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, Board-related meetings, retreats, International Advisory Panel (IAP) meetings and Board visits and consultation trips, in support of high-standard governance and effective communications and engagement with the Bank’s members and stakeholders.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
1. Under the supervision of the Manager of Shareholder Relations in the Office of the Vice President and Corporate Secretary, the Senior Secretariat Officer is primarily responsible for leading a team in the development of frameworks and strategies to analyze, implement and report on the Bank’s high-level engagements with AIIB Members.
2. In addition, the role will contribute to pursuing best international governance practices for the Bank in line with its Articles of Agreement, full implementation of immunities and privileges committed by Members, among which, Host Member Engagement, as well as on the establishment of AIIB Global Presences are included.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Lead a sub-team to support the Corporate Secretariat in providing a trusted channel of communication between the Bank and its shareholders. In particular, tailoring governance practices to meet the needs and expectations of – in addition to ensuring consistent and constant engagement with – AIIB’s shareholders.
2. Support the Corporate Secretariat in setting and upholding the highest standards of integrity in the multilateral governance of the Bank. In accordance with the Bank’s Articles of Agreement and other international treaties, this includes acting as a primary point of contact on issues related to safeguarding good corporate governance and the full implementation of privileges and immunities with AIIB shareholders.
3. Focus on continually strengthening the strategic engagement initiatives of the Corporate Secretary through various operations, including high-level outreach activities, shareholder roadshows and participation at international fora that are thematically focused on the Bank’s primary mandate.
4. Manage discussions with potential host-members related to the establishment of AIIB functional offices and global presence beyond the Bank’s headquarters in Beijing, support Bank-wide working group coordination to prepare Host Member Agreement(s), as well as coordinate the negotiation process with selected Host Members.
5. Foster stronger relations and engagement of the Bank with its Host Government(s) for full implementation of Host Member Agreement(s) and other relevant provisions.
6. Manage the engagement with diplomatic missions of AIIB members in the Host Member, coordinating the high-level dignitary visits to the headquarters , and maintaining effective communication with the diplomatic missions.
7. Contribute to the expansion of the Bank’s outreach to its shareholders and Board members, and lead the preparation of summary records of the Board meetings.
8. Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
1. A minimum of 10 – 15 years of progressively responsible experience with at least 8 years of related professional experience in corporate governance, and/or international relations areas in a governmental or multilateral organization.
2. Master’s degree in relevant areas (political science, public administration, economics, international relations, or other related fields).
3. In-depth understanding of governance and foreign affairs issues, including awareness of the challenges and mandates of multilateral development institutions.
4. Outstanding and proven quality in political sensitivity, logical reasoning, as well as multi-task prioritization.
5. Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
6. Excellent written and oral English.
