ROLE OVERVIEW 1. The Portfolio Management Department (PMD) is responsible for monitoring the implementation of AIIB-funded projects, providing administration, risk management, and quality assurance of the Bank’s existing and fast-growing portfolio comprising both sovereign backed financing and non-sovereign backed financed projects; and managing and refining investment process (including portfolio management processes and methodologies) in line with international best practices, with the goal of ensuring timely implementation of Bank-financed projects with high-quality standards, in compliance with Bank policies, and on-track to achieve the Bank’s strategic goals. 2. The Principal Portfolio Officer - Valuation reports directly to the Director General (DG) of PMD and is responsible for (i) managing a small team of highly skilled valuation specialists, and (ii) providing leadership, technical expertise and independent guidance in all aspects of valuation for all Bank’s investments, including loans, funds and equity, and supporting all operational departments (with exception of Treasury (TRE)). 3. The Principal Portfolio Officer - Valuation is expected to report periodically to senior management (including the VPs, Investment Operations; Chief Financial Officer (CFO); and Chief Risk Officer) that (i) the valuation team periodically and systematically reviews all financial instruments in the Bank’s investment portfolio (excluding TRE) and; (ii) that, based on such reviews and in their best professional judgment, the Bank’s operational financial instruments are fairly valued.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Principal Portfolio Officer - Valuation’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Lead and motivate the specialist team that provides daily valuation guidance to the Bank’s operational investment staff and periodically reviews valuation models and fair value results. 2. Interact across operational departments on all aspects of investment and asset valuation for the Bank’s operational investment portfolio. 3. Closely follow macro-economic and sector developments in the Bank’s investment regions to provide general guidance on suitable parameters for financial projections and modelling. 4. Liaise with the Office of the Controller (CTL) and internal and external auditors on the best suited valuation methodologies for the different instruments in AIIB’s operational investment portfolio. 5. Prepare and present periodic and ad hoc valuation reports and presentations to the Bank’s senior management (including the CFO) and Investment Committee. 6. Provide leadership and training to the Bank’s investment and portfolio staff on valuation methodologies and techniques. 7. Reach out and network with valuation teams at peer development financial instituions (DFIs), commercial banks as well as specialists in academia. 8. Carry out tasks delegated by DG PMD.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
1. Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field. Professional certification such as CFA or ACCA would be a plus. 2. Minimum of 15 years of experience in the valuation of diverse financial instruments (equities, funds, bonds, loans, guarantees, derivates), preferably in a DFI or similar institution. 3. Strong quantitative skills, rigorous analytical approach and proficiency in financial modeling. Familiarity with financial software and databases would be a plus. 4. Knowledge of and experience with international financial markets and investment strategies. 5. Outstanding communication and presentation skills in English, both written and spoken. 6. Ability to succinctly communicate complex valuation opinions to the Bank’s senior management and to inspire confidence. 7. Ability to work effectively and provide leadership to a multicultural team of investment and valuation specialists. 8. High level of professionalism, a passion for financial analysis and demonstration of impeccable integrity.
