JOB PURPOSE 1. The Head of SPIU leads the Strategic Projects Implementation Unit to ensure the successful delivery of partner-funded projects in line with BRD policies. 2. This role includes coordinating project proposals, overseeing execution, and ensuring compliance with financial and operational guidelines. 3. Additionally, the Head of SPIU manages resources, supports reporting, and fosters stakeholder engagement to optimize project outcomes and enhance BRD's impact. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES of the Job Project Proposals and Restructuring: 1. Collaborate with internal BRD units and external partners to align partner-funded projects with BRD policies.
Support and Oversight: 1. Assist Project Coordinators in managing resources and information per project guidelines. 2. Oversee externally funded projects (e.g., World Bank), ensuring proper activity identification, budget management, and addressing implementation weaknesses.
Coordination and Harmonization: 1. Prepare action plans and budgets to align activities with BRD policies and project schedules. 2. Regularly interact with partners to enhance project management and results. 3. Ensure efficient use of project resources.
Reporting and Compliance: 1. Provide strategic support for periodic reporting and ensure timely submission to partners. 2. Monitor implementation of recommendations from project assessments and audits. 3. Ensure compliance with Project Implementation Manual and other policies.
Team Management and Capacity Building: 1. Ensure SPIU staff have performance contracts and conduct regular evaluations. 2. Arrange capacity-building activities for project implementers.
Stakeholder Engagement: 1. Engage proactively with stakeholders to enhance BRD’s project role. 2. Represent BRD professionally and serve as the primary contact for project partners.
Special Projects and Committees: 1. Participate in national steering committees for special projects.
Regular Reporting: 1. Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to management on project implementation

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
PROFESSIONAL, ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 1. A master’s or bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Economics or related discipline is required. Certification in Project Management is an added advantage. 2. Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience with significant experience in development partners relationship management especially the World Bank Group. 3. Experience in current and possible future policies, practices, industry trends, technology and information affecting the SPIU performance/business area.
