JOB DESCRIPTION The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a state owned organisation. We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services. GIZ International Services is searching for a replacement for the Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) expert position of the EU-funded project „Support to Criminal Justice Reform" in Ethiopia. The overall objective of the programme of which this contract is "Increased rule of law, respect for human rights and access to justice for all".
ROLE OVERVIEW The purpose of this contract is to support the Government of Ethiopia in its efforts to reform the criminal justice system in Ethiopia through the provision of ongoing technical assistance, advice and support to key institutions involved in the reforms and to ensure increased access to justice for all.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE Qualifications and skills 1. Degree or diploma in statistics, M&E, research, project management or related field. In the absence of a degree, at least 15 years’ experience in statistics, M&E, research, project management or related field. General professional experience 1. At least 8 years' experience in designing and implementing M&E systems and tools for donor-supported programmes. 2. Experience in EC aid delivery methods and previous experience in implementation of EDF projects/programmes will be an advantage. 3. Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity; interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. 4. Computer literacy, excellent report writing skills and ability to produce quality documents. 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. 6. Experience in Africa is a requirement. Specific experience in Ethiopia would be considered an advantage. Specific professional experience 1. Previous experience in M&E of criminal justice / justice sector / policing reform projects or programmes will be an advantage. 2. Demonstrable experience in M&E capacity development (training, on-the-job support, guidance, hand-holding etc.).
LOCATION INFORMATION The TAU will be based in Addis Ababa. Periodic travel to all Regions will be required. The tentative start date is the 15th of November 2024. The project will run until the 14th of October 2025.
