TDB Group is active in asset management, notably in the trade finance asset class, where it has a specialized asset management subsidiary, ESATAL, which promotes the development and regional integration of the African continent through special purpose trade finance funds that offer attractive risk-adjusted returns to investors seeking to make a positive impact on the African continent. PURPOSE OF THE JOB 1. The Head Deal Origination and Structuring leads the origination, structuring, and execution of trade finance transactions for TDB Group's asset management subsidiary, ESATAL. Leveraging deep expertise in African trade finance markets, the position holder oversees the end-to-end transaction lifecycle from deal sourcing (primary and secondary) and structuring to the implementation of rigorous credit risk assessment processes and presentation to the Investment Committee. 2. The role is responsible for driving the strategic expansion of ESATAL's trade finance funds across Africa, ensuring strong deal flow and impactful disbursements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: 1. Lead the Origination team and identify and source trade finance opportunities across Africa that align with the expected returns and risk appetite of TDB's Trade Finance Funds. 2. Perform in-depth credit analysis on transactions and develop comprehensive investment papers that clearly articulated findings and recommendations. 3. Negotiate terms, financial and non-financial covenants, security packages, and other key components of transactions with prospective clients and partners. 4. Develop and utlize financial models to assess the resilience of cash flows and evaluate investment viability. 5. Prepare and present the investment opportunity to the investment committee for approval. 6. Constantly manage an active pipeline of opportunities for investments. 7. Travel, attend conferences and investor meetings as required. 8. Manage the performance of direct report staff in line with set key deliverables and targets to ensure achievements of the department and overall TDB Group's strategic objectives. 9. Provide effective leadership, mentorship, coaching and by example, live TDB Group's core values and inculcate these among staff under one's management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES 1. A master's degree or equivalent in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or Economics. 2. A relevant professional certification or license from internationally accredited bodies would be an advantage. 3. A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in trade finance, corporate lending and/or structuring on the African continent, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. 4. Deep understanding of trade finance and good negotiation skills. 5. Investing in Funds or experience in working with Fund and/or Fund service providers is a plus. 6. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including financial modelling and the ability to analyse financial statements. 7. Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve measurable results. 8. Must be detailed oriented but flexible to work in a fast-paced environment, with good communication skills. 9. Solid track-record in developing and nurtuting talent and managing diverse teams to drive engagement and performance. 10. Fluency in English is a requirement. Knowledge of another official langugage of TDB Group's member states (French) would be an added advantage.
