SECTOR/DEPARTMENT: Oil and Gas LOCATION: Uganda
ABOUT The Client requires a Project Manager for an oil and gas project that it is currently working on in Uganda.
ROLE OVERVIEW 1. The candidate for this post should have at least 8-10 years’ experience in this particular industry with planning, leadership and all-round excellent resource management skills. 2. An overall Project manager who we need to monitor all our company projects around the country and to update management on the same. 3. The Project Manager must have previous experience in a similar role.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Company's Management, the Project Manager will be expected to take on the following roles and responsibilities. 1. Manage construction schedules and budgets by working closely with the onsite project team 2. Must possess interface management skills to engage and build a good rapport with the client, consultants and other project stakeholders 3. Coordinate and work closely with the onsite project team in providing guidance where required to project related technical and administrative issues 4. Work closely with the project planning team and the on-site project engineer in order to track work progress and proactively contribute to finding solutions on eliminating or mitigating the risks associated with such issues. 5. Ensure that records of all change/variation orders are maintained and follow up to ensure that costs for the same have been submitted, approved and paid for by the Client. 6. Engage with the project planning team to ensure that priority works are given attention and deployment of resources for the same are available and distributed effectively. 7. Work closely with subordinates from various departments to ensure that project plans are regularly updated along with status reports and keep the Client, consultant and company management in loop at all times 8. Attend all site meetings and take action on any issues that may crop up 9. Regular interaction with the project QA/QC manager with whom you will be expected to interact very regularly in order to maintain Quality standards required 10. The same applies to HSSSE 11. Regularly conduct meetings with the project team/s to discuss various issues on site and take appropriate proactive action as and when required 12. Provide guidance on contractual matters to project manager or other operational staff 13. Provide information, advice and assistance in preparing grounds for time extensions, cost overruns and any other contractual issues that may crop up during the execution stage of the contracts. 14. Work closely with planning team to ensure that budgets are met, and project costs are kept under check and regularly inform company management about the same 15. Must be familiar with essential forms of contracts' management skills especially "FIDIC" and the provisions made therein for various parties involved in contract.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS. 1. Bachelor's degree in a construction related subject that covers contract law, such as: a) Civil or structural engineering b) Construction management c) Business or contract management d) Building studies e) Quantity surveying
Skills required: 1. An excellent understanding of the construction industry 2. Knowledge of legal documentation 3. Computer literate in the essential MS software, i.e. MS Project, Word, Excel and/or any other Construction software 4. Strong leadership skills 5. Business management skills 6. The ability to use own initiative 7. Interface management skills 8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
