JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is a luxury 5-star Restaurant located in Lagos, with years’ of experience in the hospitality industry in Nigeria. They currently have an opening for a Sous Chef (Oriental) to be based in Lagos.
JOB SUMMARY 1. The Sous Chef (Oriental) provides support to the Executive Chef where food preparation is concerned. 2. He/She also ensures that the kitchen is clean and operational. 3. As an Sous Chef (Oriental) you are responsible to take care of the daily food preparation and duties assigned to meet the set standard and qualities whereby your role will include key responsibilities such as: 1) Prepare all kinds of food inclusive and with the main focus on Oriental cuisine for all banquet events and restaurants 2) Create high quality and original oriental food to satisfy the customer 3) Follow the instructions and recommendations from the immediate Superiors to complete the daily tasks 4) Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation and keep up to date with the new Oriental recipes and preparation techniques 5) Update menu recipe cards and menu planning for promotions 6) Attend daily chefs and banquet operational meetings 7) Coordinate and participate with other sections of requirements, cleanliness, wastage and cost control 8) Constantly be alert on freshness, presentations and temperature of food served in restaurants or functions

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
SKILLS Education, Qualifications & Experiences 1. You should have a professional kitchen apprenticeship or chefs training course and previous experiences in the Oriental specialty cuisine along with good culinary skills. 2. The ability to communicate well in English and a proven track of food preparation, presentation and preservation knowledge is an essential.

REQUIREMENTS 1. Proven 3-4 years 4/5 Star restaurant relevant work experience as an Oriental Sous Chef 2. Great attention to detail and creativity 3. MUST be proficient in the use of Opera and Micros 4. Must be willing to work within Lagos. 5. Organizing and leadership skills 6. Willingness to replenish professional knowledge 7. Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS) 8. Previous leadership experience in the culinary field required 9. Diploma Certification in a Culinary discipline an asset 10. Must be willing to work within Lagos
