ABOUT NIGERIA BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE   

The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce is the foremost
bilateral Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria. The Chamber is accredited under the
NACCIMA/CIPE, Washington, D.C. USA accreditation programme. There are over 350
corporate members who are found in all sectors of the Nigerian economy. Our
membership base range from the small and medium enterprises to large scale
multinational corporations and government agencies. We organize workshops,
business luncheons, seminars, trade fairs, trade mission, members' evening and
other such activities that aid trade and investment.



 



The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) was
founded in 1977 in Lagos: an outcome of a discussion two years earlier, between
the then Mr. Adam Thompson (later Sir Adam Thompson), Chairman of the then
British Caledonian Airways and Chief (Dr) Henry Fajemirokun, CON (both of
blessed memory) who was also the founding president.



 



Vision Statement



To be the foremost channel of trade and commerce between
Nigeria and Britain.



 



Mission Statement



To continuously encourage and promote mutually beneficial
trade relations between Nigeria and Britain.



 



Our Objectives



To promote exclusively bilateral business and investment
activities between Nigerian and British private sectors. Other objectives which
the NBCC was founded to achieve were:



 



1.     
To provide a forum representative of Nigerian and British
interests, whereby the development and improvement of Commerce and Industry
between the two countries can be encouraged and protected;



2.     
To strive for increased trade between the United Kingdom
and the Federal Republic of Nigeria through a regular exchange of information
on trade and investment opportunities amongst members;



3.     
To advise the Governments of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria and the United Kingdom on matters pertaining to trade relations between
the two countries;



4.     
To advise members of the chamber on opportunities and problems,
legislative or otherwise, arising from the pursuit of trade between the United
Kingdom and Nigeria;



5.     
To organise conferences, seminars and meetings on subjects
of current importance to the commercial community and to arrange regular
gatherings of specialist groups with the aim of encouraging members to meet and
discuss problems of mutual concern;



6.     
To maintain a close liaison with all relevant Government
authorities, departments and representative bodies with the aim of protecting
and or representing members’ interests on matters of current importance;



7.     
To organise Trade Missions and to provide a travel service
for members;



8.     
To provide information and market intelligence service on
United Kingdom/Nigerian trade in the form of regular trade bulletin;



9.     
To print publish and circulate any journals, periodicals,
leaflets or any other publications that the chamber may think desirable,
providing information on the chamber; its members; the various activities
opportunities; of the chamber; investment opportunities; statistical and other
information relating to Business generally and any other matters considered to
be of current importance;



10.  To promote, support
or seek the review of any legislative or other measures affecting the aforesaid
aims and objectives;



11.  To maximize trade
between Nigeria and Britain through a regular exchange of information among its
members.



12.  To advise the
governments of both countries on matters pertaining to bilateral trade
relations.



13.  To ensure effective
policy advocacy through our membership of the National Association of Chambers
of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
