PURPOSE OF THE JOB 1. Reporting to the Chief, Strategy and Policies, the position will actively support NDB’s businesses and activities, by contributing to analyses of relevant issues, engagement with potential partners and multilateral forums, preparation of action plans and other documentation to support the Bank’s strategic priorities. 2. The position will be responsible for developing NDB’s strategic agenda and approaches on climate related issues, including the formulation of relevant policies and action plans etc. 3. The position is also responsible for engaging with external stakeholders on climate-related topics and socialize these issues internally, through presentations, discussions and engagement in the Bank’s activities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: 1. Lead on the development of NDB’s strategic agenda on climate related issues, including the formulation of climate policies and/or action plans etc. 2. Contribute to the development of country partnerships plans, including exploring the opportunities to support countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) as well as long-term strategies for low-emission and climate resilient development. 3. Work with departments within the Bank to develop strategic approaches and tools to mainstream climate considerations in the Bank’s operations and activities. 4. Review projects concept notes and other documents and participate in due diligence missions, as needed, contributing to mainstream climate considerations in projects financed by the Bank. 5. Contribute to the tracking and reporting of NDB’s climate finance. 6. Support the Bank in aligning its operations and activities with the Paris Agreement 7. Strengthen engagement with other MDBs and strategic players on climate and green development matters. 8. Represent the Bank on climate related discussions in external engagement, as needed. 9. Participate in discussions with major climate/green funds to explore opportunities of resource mobilization. 10. Conduct relevant research on topics pertaining to climate change in the context of global development trends to anticipate challenges and opportunities for the Bank. 11. Contribute to the preparation of NDB’s Annual Report and other strategy and climate-related reports. 12. Support Management on climate related issues, as needed. 13. Other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
1. Minimum of 5-9 years of relevant professional experience in a multilateral development bank or institution, international organizations, private sector company, governmental organization, public sector, academic/research institution, or leading global consulting firms or think tanks. 2. Detailed knowledge related to climate change, including Paris Agreement, climate/green finance, energy transition etc. 3. Knowledge and experience in data collection, analysis and interpretation, building indicators, reporting and providing support for data driven decision-making. 4. Experience with the development and implementation of climate related strategies and policies. 5. Proven track record of applying professional expertise in the planning and preparation of projects and activities that accommodate climate considerations. 6. Familiarity with operations, policies and processes of international financial institutions is a plus. 7. Relevant experience in a multi-cultural work environment. 8. Proven ability and willingness to work in a climate of team dependence and collaboration; 9. Exceptional drafting and communication skills, strategic thinking, problem solving, conflict management, and interpersonal skills with high resilience and drive in achieving objectives and goals. 10. Master’s Degree or equivalent in a professional field of Environmental Economics, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management from a reputed university.
