ABOUT The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a leading Africa-based, African-led, international research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and engaged in multidisciplinary, evidence-based policy research. Our researchers address important issues and challenges facing Africa in areas such as education, health, population, aging, urbanization and well-being. We engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings to influence policy decisions and improve the quality of life in Africa.
BACKGROUND 1. The Secretariat of the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) provides support to the Executive Directorate and Consortium governance organs, implements program activities and coordinates and follows up with the sub-grantees, be these individuals or institutions. 2. The work of the Secretariat includes a wide variety and number of administrative tasks in the areas of logistics, training and fellowship support, and monitoring and evaluation. 3. The Consortium is seeking to recruit an Administrative Assistant to join this hard working team to take on some of these tasks in order to provide a more efficient service to our program.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. General program administrative duties like archiving of program documents; preparation of support letters and documentation and support internal meetings. 2. Support CARTA fellowship, training activities and grants (for fellows and institutions) like compiling summaries of applications, reviewing documents for compliance, tracking payments and sharing evidence of transfer with sub grantees. 3. Provide administrative support to the Monitoring & Evaluation officer by creating basic forms for operational and monitoring purposes, scheduling and sharing links for regular and ad hoc reporting, downloading and forwarding operational requests.
