Reporting Relationship The Project Developer will report to the Sector Lead: Mining, Metals, Infrastructure and Energy.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To participate in the identification and development of projects through the Project Development Life Cycle to achieve the IDC’s strategic objectives and contribute to industry development goals.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Financial /Shareholder Returns
1. Optimal structuring of projects utilizing IDC's financing instruments including but not limited to project and structured equity finance principles .
2. Ensure that all projects are developed and structured in such a way to facilitate inclusive development and maximize the IDC developmental and financial returns.

Internal /Operational Processes
1. To participate in projects during the different phases of Project Development (idea generation, project scoping, pre-feasibility study, bankable feasibility study, financing, pre-implementation and implementation)
2. To participate in the evaluation of projects to ensure they meet the requirement for each Decision Gate of the Project Development Life Cycle
3. Proactive identification of project opportunities to build the pipeline
4. Assessment of external project applications
5. Ensure that the projects are aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit and drive the objectives that will ensure the achievement of complete project milestones
6. Identify financial, marketing and technical risks (including during implementation) and developing mitigation plans to minimise these risks
7. Monitor and manage the project implementation to ensure it is implemented successfully , according to plan and within budget
8. Quality control of projects, implemented correctly to contribute to SBU’s strategic objectives and ensure client meets complies with the terms of the partnership agreements
9. Provide input, prepare and present comprehensive Exco proposals motivating IDC’s investment in a project proposal.
10. Account Management functions relating to projects such as disbursements, clearing of CP’s

Customer Focus & Stakeholder Management
1. Building influential and sustainable relationships with strategic partners to assist unit in achieving strategic objectives.
2. Participate in project-specific steering committees
3. To establish and maintain effective networks in order to source new project opportunities, build industry links and build IDC brand awareness.
4. To effectively interact with different SBU’s and departments in order to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific project.
5. Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualification: relevant commercial or technical Honours Degree or equivalent qualification.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. 5-8 years related experience of which 3-4 years should be in Project development and Management
2. Previous experience managing project scopes, risk mitigation and negotiating partnership terms to co-develop a project with a partner. execution and scheduling for multiple development projects
3. Understanding and application of corporate management and structuring processes
4. Understanding and application of project development principles including the application and structuring of IDC funding to maximise upside returns and minimize downside risk.
5. Experience in interpretation of financial statements
6. Knowledge of the market environment and technology landscape
7. Knowledge of financing instruments
8. Understand and review models of proposed financial structures
