JOB DESCRIPTION Minimizing security risks for all staff is the highest priority of our implementation. To achieve this, GIZ Nigeria & Economic Community of West African States implement a professional Security Risk Management System. The Security Risk Management contributes to the safety and security of staff and operations and thereby supports the successful implementation of development programmes and cooperation. The GIZ risk management office (RMO) in Nigeria analyses the threats for the German Development Cooperation in the country. It minimizes risks that GIZ employees are exposed to within their working environment and allows maintaining a scope of activities in the country while simultaneously considering the risk limits.
YOUR TASKS 1. Support the improvement of the RMO monitoring system, data management and data analysis 2. Collect geographical data for analysis and presentation and keep the collection updated as well as monitor the accuracy and quality of data collected by Field Offices 3. Produce high-quality maps, graphs, and other products to support GIZ Nigeria’s analysis to facilitate understanding of the operating locations using Geographic Information System (GIS), QGIS, ArcGIS or similar applications 4. Provide GIS-relevant inputs on field missions intended to gather data for GIZ Nigeria outputs, including maps 5. Cooperate closely with the programmes to understand and respond to their needs 6. Facilitate training for field security staff 7. Assist with the operational management of the RMO in Abuja, e.g. through site assessments, vehicle tracking, SAT phone management, incident reporting, surveys 8. Assist with ensuring that all staff are acquainted with and use the Emergency Mass Notification System

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. University degree in geography, GIS, computer sciences or related field 2. Initial experience in a comparable function, preferred work experience gained abroad 3. Advanced excel skills and sufficiency in Access/FoxPro/Adobe Illustrator and the use of GIS systems, QGIS, ArcGIS or similar systems required 4. Knowledge of analytical software Tableau, SPSS, PowerBI or similar tools 5. Strong cartographic skills, including the development of templates and adherence to cartographic standards 6. Experience in security and/or geo-political mapping is an advantage 7. Customer-oriented and solution-driven 8. Fluency in English and German; knowledge of French is an advantage
