ABOUT
I&M Bank is a leading commercial bank headquartered in Kenya with a growing regional presence. The Bank offers a wide range of commercial banking and financial products and services, and prides itself on introducing innovative products and services based on the needs of its customers. We are seeking to recruit a competent and highly motivated individual with extensive experience and abilities to support business growth in the following position:

PURPOSE:
1. Responsible for supporting the strategy & transformation office to develop world class strategies aligned to market and economic dynamics.
2. The Role holder will be responsible for conducting macro and micro economic research to support the strategic choices taken by the Bank and Group.
3. The role holder will work with other stakeholders to define key trends in our operating environment that are likely to impact our strategic priorities.
4. The Role holder will also support in building the corporate profile of I&M by supporting the Investor relations team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leading the research process and consolidation of research in Financial Services and economic issues important to Kenya and the key markets where we play as well as their policy and business implications.
2. Leading the monitoring and collation of key economic data covering the globe, Africa and our key markets into suitably organized information to inform and guide the Bank’s Strategy.
3. Leading the conduct of cutting-edge research in economics that will initially be consumed by the bank but with the potential for commercialization.
4. Leading the production of regular reports which monitor developments in global and regional economic landscape as well as the Bank’s key markets and products, risk-based sector and country reports and providing timely analyses on their likely impact on our target countries and the Bank’s operations.
5. Work jointly with the Innovation tribe to conduct market analysis to support product development. Will act as an eye for the organization on product trends across the market.
6. In future, the role holder may be expected to support in the development and dissemination of best practice and or economic material that will contribute to building the bank’s profile.
7. Support the Investor Relations team to build the profile of I&M Group
8. Any other duties as may be assigned by Senior Management.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
1. At least 5 years’ experience in management consulting or private equity space
2. Degree in Finance or Economics
3. Ability to translate data into useful insights for strategic decision making
4. Strong analytical and numerical skills
5. Effective communicator & good relationship management skills
6. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
7. Good interpretation and decision-making ability
