PURPOSE OF ROLE 1. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Risk Officer (VP&CRO), this position will be responsible for leading the Bank’s strategy, policies, planning and partnership related activities. 2. The role requires a deep appreciation of critical global issues such as sustainable development and climate change, EMDCs’ development challenges, infrastructure financing requirements, working of multilateral development banks (MDBs) and a willingness to bring in new knowledge and ideas to support the bank’s work and its evolution into a leading MDB in line with its General Strategy objectives and member countries’ aspirations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: 1. Develop and communicate the Bank’s strategy, monitor its implementation, finetune strategic processes, review and arrange for reporting on the outcomes versus the strategic objectives and targets. 2. Ensure an effective cascading of the Bank’s strategy to all Departments / Divisions and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. 3. Contribute to internal dialogues on the Bank’s strategy and effectively communicate NDB’s long-term and short-term strategies to all stakeholders. 4. Oversee the preparation of assessments and reports on the Bank’s development impact, in line with its focus on infrastructure and sustainable development projects. 5. Coordinate the preparation of studies and research on topics related to NDB’s strategy, including development impact, climate change and other key 6. Lead the collation of relevant indicators for monitoring, measuring, analyzing, and reporting of the outputs, outcomes and impacts of projects. 7. Provide strategic inputs to the Management on NDB’s investment, financial and operational strategies. 8. Build and maintain mutually enriching institutional partnerships. 9. Lead engagement with relevant stakeholders, viz., development institutions, multilateral development banks, premier think tanks in member countries, international organisations, and other forums. 10. Coordinate and support the Bank’s engagement with multilateral groups/forums. 11. Provide technical support to the Management for membership expansion of the Bank. 12. Support development of new knowledge and research to anchor innovative business and strategic initiatives, in coordination with other Departments/Divisions. 13. Coordinate the preparation of NDB’s Annual Report and contribute to other strategy-related reports. 14. Lead annual business planning for the Bank in consultation with other Departments 15. Support a continuous cycle of qualitative upgrades in Bank’s policies through requisite iterations, peer benchmarking, internal consultations and external validations as required. 16. Other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
1. Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, culminating in a senior leadership role and position of influence, in multilateral development banks, DFIs, government, national think tanks or similar institutions. 2. Track record in leading preparation, dissemination, implementation, monitoring and review of strategic plans, and policies. 3. Exceptional strategic thinking and change management skills. 4. Strong managerial, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse workforce and to foster teamwork and collaboration in a multi-cultural work environment. 5. Commitment to build technical and analytical capacity of the Bank, nurturing talent and promoting continuous learning and development. 6. Knowledge of global economic growth and development trends, financial markets, climate change and sustainability, Infrastructure, and other development needs of EMDCs. 7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and capacity to lead production of quality strategic documents and reports. 8. Ability to engage and negotiate at leadership levels for securing the Bank’s strategic objectives. 9. Master’s Degree from a reputed university with distinguished academic record. Additional attributes or qualifications would be a plus, including a PhD or professional certifications.
