CONTACT HR-Services Kundenportal +49 6196/79-3200 kundenportal-rueckfragen@giz.de JOB DESCRIPTION The GIZ Program "Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Forest Management" in the Democratic Republic of Congo implements activities in the Maniema Province related to OneHealth. The project aims to improve the technical and institutional capacities of local actors involved in the program’s activities for OneHealth. The "Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Agronomiques et Vétérinaire" (ISEAV) in particular plays a major role in the Maniema Province, as it not only trains future veterinarians, but also supports the provincial authorities in vaccination campaigns and awareness campaigns in the field of wildlife and livestock health. With the assignment of a development worker, the program aims to improve the competencies of ISEAV and thus contribute to improved monitoring and control of zoonotic diseases in the Maniema province.
YOUR TASKS 1. Building the technical as well as institutional capacity of ISEAV in their OneHealth department 2. Supporting the ISEAV team on planning and implementation activities related to OneHealth, such as vaccination campaigns, setting up a livestock pharmacy 3. Supporting the ISEAV team on developing value chains for traditional medicinal plants 4. Supporting the ISEAV team on setting up a "monitoring system” for zoonotic diseases 5. Facilitating a regular exchange of lessons learned between ISEAV and the various local actors involved in the protection of local wildlife 6. Maintaining an exchange with the One Health staff of the other two program sites (Bukavu et Kinshasa)

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. University degree in one of the following areas: Veterinary medicine, biology, zoology, or a similar discipline 2. Professional experience in one or more areas of training veterinarians, monitoring zoonotic diseases in wildlife or livestock populations, developing value chains for medicinal plants 3. Work experience in animal health in francophone Africa or regional experience in sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage 4. Excellent intercultural and communication skills 5. Willingness to work under basic conditions 6. Good French language skills; knowledge of Swahili, German and/or English is an advantage
