JOB DESCRIPTION X1 position exists within the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission department for Structural Engineer at our Sandton Offices and Pretoria. This position will be based on a 3 year (36 months) fixed term contract.
JOB PURPOSE (A statement of the reason for the position’s existence. A summary of the role of the position) 1. The ISA Infrastructure Project Delivery Office (IPDO) is to ensure that Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) provides requisite Technical Support to Project Sponsors and Implementing Agents (IA’s) on the priority Infrastructure Programmes (Rural Bridges, Rural Roads, Digitisation of Public Service, Comprehensive Urban and Rural Programme, Refurbishment Operate and Transfer of Public Buildings Programme and Water Infrastructure Intervention Programme). 2. The Structural Engineer will provide technical construction and engineering management to the Infrastructure Programmes and their sponsors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide strategic technical advice for and prepare portions of planning and reporting documents on construction and infrastructure activities related to design, management, oversight, and construction risk mitigation. 2. Conduct on site investigations and analyse data 3. Prepare feasibility studies, designs and drawings of bridges 4. Prepare tender documents and contracting strategies 5. Assess potential design and construction risks on site 6. Ensure compliance with quality and safety 7. Manage budget and construction schedule 8. Monitor construction progress and compile progress reports 9. Conduct on-site inspections and ensuring that structures and constructed according to design specifications 10. Sign off completed structures as sound and reliable

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
QUALIFICATIONS 1. BEng or BSc qualification in Civil Engineering, or other relevant qualification 2. Registered Professional with the Engineering Council of South Africa (PrEng) 3. Post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE 1. 8 -10 years working experience as a structural engineer. 2. Knowledge and understanding of different suites of contracts (e.g. FIDC, GCC, NEC etc). 3. Knowledge and understanding of COLTO/COTO and applicable TRH manuals 4. Knowledge and understanding of SANS 10162 5. Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 and 14001 6. Knowledge, understanding and experience working with structural design software 7. Knowledge and experience of basic computer skills (e.g. MS Office)
