DESCRIPTION
MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
Providing support for research activities of spring barley breeding at the ICARDA research station in Marchouch and other research stations in Morocco.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in preparing field plans, land preparation, sowing, harvesting, threshing of trials, breeding material and nurseries.
2. Preparing seed materials for various nurseries for planting at research stations in Morocco and other countries.
3. Undertake input and irrigation activities.
4. Assist in collecting, managing, and summarizing data.
5. Supervise daily workers.
6. Undertake the crossing program.
7. Perform any other job assigned as per requirement of spring barley breeding program.

| REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
1. Diploma in agriculture or 3 years of experience in breeding/ research program after Higher Secondary School degree.
2. Demonstrated ability in field research
3. Good experience in field research management
4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data recording
5. Ability to work in a team
6. Good command of spoken and written Arabic and English

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT, SALARY, AND BENEFITS
This is a nationally recruited position open to Moroccan nationals for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months’ maternity leave, 15 days’ paternity leave. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 3 years, renewable subject to continued need for the position and satisfactory performance. The first year will be probationary period.
