MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide support and oversee various farm operations; Agronomy experiments, store management, seed production, and management of research farm.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop a modern research platform
2. Coordinate different farm operations for raising successful crops in different field experiments in timely manner.
3. Experiments on improve existing agronomic practices and water management.
4. Directly supervise and guide technicians and field assistants to maximize field homogeneity to reduce experimental error.
5. Ensure perfect maintenance of fields, farm machinery, threshing floor, seed store, and other buildings.
6. Taking attendance of laborers and looking into labor affairs.
7. Help in coordinating and conducting field activities inside and outside the Platform as well, whenever necessary.
8. Assist scientists in overseeing field rotations and other practices
9. Any other work assigned by the Regional Coordinator.

| REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
1. PhD in any subject of Agriculture with over 5 years of experience in agronomic research and Field Management.
2. Computer data entry and analysis skills.
3. Awareness of farm machinery, field activities and agronomic operation.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and supervise technical staff.
5. Previous work experience in an international, multi-cultural environment would be preferred.
6. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and Hindi.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT, SALARY, AND BENEFITS
This is a nationally recruited position available for Indian nationals for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months’ maternity leave, 15 days’ paternity leave. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 3 years. The contract will be renewable subject to continued need for the position, the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
