JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for the placement of funds with approved fund managers and banks, limited trading in fixed income instruments (i.e., money markets and bonds markets) and executing of foreign exchange and fixed income derivative transactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Dealing
1. Invest surplus funds by trading selected money market funds and banks as guided by the decision-making bodies to increase the return on the operational portfolio; and reduce the cost of carry
2. Compile cash flow projections and plan assets maturities to ensure that all cash outflows that are projected for stipulated periods are met.
3. Manage all day to day dealing activities in money market and fixed income Instruments, including derivative instruments.
4. Conduct limited trading in fixed income instruments such as money markets and bonds.
5. Capture and trade on treasury system and provide status reports on the various trading conducted at various intervals.
6. Execute foreign exchange currency and fixed income derivative transactions on behalf of Asset and Liability Management (ALM).
7. Book trades timeously in the front office system and provide reports on trading activity.
8. Monitor and manage counterparty exposure relative to applicable limits.
9. Provide cost of funding input into the loan pricing process.
10. Monitor liquidity levels against loans disbursements forecast and contractual obligations.
11. Keep abreast of financial markets developments and make recommendations in relation to opportunities and changes in the International financial markets (i.e., pricing points / new funding structures etc).

Stakeholder Relations and Reporting
1. Create investor interest in DBSA by keeping investors informed about developments at the Bank.
2. Manage core relationships and expectations with the lenders, investors and Bank’s group of international development finance institutions and other lenders, domestic and offshore.
3. Report on market dealings as and when required.
4. Contribute to management reporting and providing ad hoc reports as and when needed.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
EXPERTISE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Finance or quantitative discipline.
2. 5 years’ experience Treasury and financial market experience
3. Experienced/skilled in the use of fixed income and foreign currency derivatives
4. Good understanding of the functioning of the capital markets and JSE Debt Listing Requirements.
5. Good understanding of legislation and regulations relevant to the DBSA including FMA, PFMA, SARB FX controls, etc.
6. Advanced excel capabilities
