JOB DESCRIPTION
On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Global Programme for “Pandemic Prevention and Response, One Health” aims to strengthen capacities for epidemic prevention and response with a One Health approach. It is based on partners’ needs and the BMZ’s One Health Strategy, which identified interfaces between biodiversity, environmental, human and animal health for pandemic prevention and places a special focus on the detection and control of novel zoonoses. 
The EU and African Union (AU) are critical partners in German international cooperation. The Team Europe Initiative on Sustainable Health Security using a One Health approach (TEI HSOH), which aims to sustainably strengthen the African architecture for health security, will be a collaboration between EU-INTPA (International Partnerships) of the European Commission, AU as well as other African partners, and other European member states. To strengthen and coordinate partners’ actions, it is planned to establish a Support Unit, functioning as a secretariat for the TEI HSOH, to be based in Addis Ababa. The TSU is just being established, and will be jointly staffed by GIZ and Agence Française de Développement (AFD)/Expertise Française (EF). Day to day supervision will be by the Coordinator (EF) and formal line management by the contracting organisation (in this case GIZ). The tasks below should be considered indicative and may be adapted subject to need. 

YOUR TASKS
1. Establish the key partnerships for the Technical Support Unit to facilitate and actively support the work of the TEI, e.g. with EU INTPA, EU Member States, other TEIs and the relevant African partner organisations
2. Help facilitate and provide follow-up to TEI HSOH meetings, as well as joint visits and policy dialogues with relevant stakeholders
3. Develop communications strategy and multi-channel communications that enhance the impact of the TEI HSOH; create texts for briefings, press releases, websites and social media as appropriate
4. Support drafting or updating of other key documents for discussion and agreements as required, e.g., reports, joint position papers, etc.
5. Steer communication processes among partners and collaborate with their respective coms teams as needed
6. Support knowledge management, exchange and learning within the TEI HSOH and as needed with other TEIs
7. Perform other functions as agreed, in alignment with other the European Commission and EU member states' representatives, e.g. supporting financial reporting, project management, joint mapping activities
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB

YOUR PROFILE
1. Relevant university degree or equivalent work experience in a field relevant to the functions described above; Qualification in an area relevant to Health Security and One Health approaches will be of advantage
2. Several years of relevant professional experience in international cooperation, preferably in a field relevant to health security with a One Health approach. EU experience, previous experience working in an international organisation, network or secretariat as well as with African organisations would be of distinct advantage.
3. Professional work experience in political communication, outreach or and stakeholder/partnership management
4. Excellent advisory skills, high conceptual abilities, performance and goal orientation , with a demonstrable ability to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances
5. Strong teamwork skills in diverse, multicultural teams with context sensitivity, cooperation and communication skills, political, diplomatic and strategic intuition as well as very good networking skills
6. Excellent written and spoken English. French and German in addition would be a distinct advantage
7. Willingness to undertake business travel as required
