In cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (www.giz.de) CIM has been combining development and labour market policy expertise since 1980. The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is the Ethiopian independent federal state body mandated to promote and protect human rights. The EHRC is tasked to research and investigate on human rights violations; advocate for legal reform in line with national regional and international human rights standards; monitor compliance with human rights standards and advocate for change; human rights education and promotion; collaboration, engagement and partnership for an impactful human rights work. Currently, the Ethiopian government is drafting a transitional justice policy. The EHRC is looking for an expert to assist the EHRC in strategising its engagement in the transitional justice process.

YOUR TASKS WILL INVOLVE: 1. Provide technical support and advice to the EHRC on matters related to transitional justice 2. Support the preparation of the EHRC's engagement strategy on the transitional justice process 3. Advise EHRC on best practices for partnership management, advocacy, sensitization, capacity building, and communication/media strategy 4. Support EHRC on best practices for community and victim's engagement 5. Research to identify countries which have gone/are going through a transitional justice process with similar contexts to Ethiopia

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE: 1. Advanced university degree in human rights, transitional justice, conflict studies, peace and security, humanitarian law, or other related fields. 2. A minimum of ten (10) years practical experience in the relevant field and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in research and analytical work in the context of conflict or post-conflict environment. 3. Strong technical knowledge of international human rights and/or humanitarian law principles. 4. Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills including experience in developing strategy documents, advisory documents, policy documents, technical guidelines, and reports. 5. Experience in liaising with different counterparts, facilitating training, and visits. 6. Excellent computer skills: MS word, excel, power point, and database software. 7. Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and networking abilities as well as team work orientation and organizational skills 8. Business fluency in English (written and spoken); further language skills are an asset
