CONTEXT
Verod Capital (the “Firm” or “Verod”), founded in 2008, is a leading African investment management firm that focuses through its private equity (PE) funds on high-growth businesses in Anglophone West Africa, particularly Nigeria and Ghana, and through its venture capital (VC) fund on early-stage tech-enabled businesses in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. The PE funds invest in a range of industries including consumer products and services, education, agriculture, financial and business services with investments ranging from $10 million and $25 million. The VC fund focuses on investments in FinTech, EdTech, Logistics and HealthTech with investments ranging from $150k to $7.5 million.

THE ROLE
1. Verod’s Finance Manager will play a key role in the strategic direction and decision making of the business and its portfolio of investee companies, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
2. The Finance Manager will be responsible for all financial aspects of running the business, mainly funds operation, including strategic planning, budgeting and annual planning process, financing investments, fundraising, deal execution/ transaction support, servicing and fostering investor relations, designing and managing digital solutions/ IP related deals with a critical focus on leading the growth and profitability agenda.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Build a robust finance function poised to take the firm on its next stage of growth while delivering strategic and operational excellence.
2. Lead the firm in the execution of the financial strategy (corporate & funds).
3. Collaborate with the Fund Operations Officer/ CFO and Head of Investor Relations & Communications on information requirements and reporting to investors.
4. Oversee capital allocation decisions and set-up financial measurement systems overseeing investment decisions and operations.
5. Oversee effective budgeting and monitoring to deliver on strategic imperatives and operational requirements.
6. Ensure robust cost management processes are in place with commensurate approvals and monitoring guidelines.
7. Ensure the implementation of a healthy regulatory and compliance culture ensuring integrity, consistency, and professionalism at all times.
8. Utilise the latest innovations in technology to expand service offering and deliver best in class services for investors/ portfolio companies.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
KEY REQUIREMENTS
1. Qualified Chartered Accountant with a university degree in Accounting and /or Finance. MBA desirable.
2. 7 - 10 years of experience leading a finance function including private equity/investment sector, accounting and administration, tax efficient investment knowledge and regulatory requirements, / accounts/ budgeting/ banking/ tax-planning/ risk management/ operations/ pay-roll/ MIS – experience in operational strategy is an asset.
3. Ability to act as a strategic thought partner, aligning on a shared vision for the organisation and shaping the finance strategy in support of the company’s business objectives.
4. Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and ability to oversee financial programs of the company from diagnostics to planning, and from projections to reporting.
5. Ability to generate, collate, analyse and report financial data to provide insights and inform business outcomes (e.g. value add data analytics capability to the business and financial implications of business decisions).
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to engage and influence key internal and external stakeholders (board, committee, regulators, investors).
8. Experience of operating in a private equity-backed/ private equity firm venture capital or other fund structures desirable.
9. Experience of providing strategic and/or operations support to companies desirable.
10. Diverse market experience including frontier markets desirable.

COMPENSATION
Remuneration package will be highly competitive based on qualification, experience, and profile of the candidate.
