DEPARTMENT: Public Relations LOCATION: Lagos State
POSITION OVERVIEW The PR and Communications Manager plays a critical role in enhancing the visibility, reputation, and public perception of the flag football league. They develop and implement strategic communication plans, manage media relations, and oversee public relations initiatives to promote the league's brand and engage with stakeholders.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (DUTIES) Strategic Communication Planning: 1. Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to promote the league's mission, programs, and events. 2. Define key messaging and communication objectives aligned with organizational goals and target audiences.
Media Relations: 1. Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive coverage and publicity for the league. 2. Pitch story ideas, press releases, and media opportunities to relevant media contacts, responding to media inquiries and interview requests.
Content Creation and Distribution: 1. Create engaging content for press releases, newsletters, website updates, social media posts, and other communication channels. 2. Coordinate the production of promotional materials, including videos, graphics, and written content, to support PR and marketing campaigns.
Social Media Management: 1. Manage the league's social media accounts, including content planning, posting, and engagement with followers. 2. Monitor social media channels for trends, mentions, and opportunities to enhance the league's online presence and reputation.
Event Promotion and Coordination: 1. Develop and implement promotional campaigns to generate awareness and attendance for league events, tournaments, and initiatives. 2. Coordinate media coverage, press conferences, and promotional activities before, during, and after events.
Crisis Communication and Management 1. Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to address potential issues or controversies, providing timely and transparent responses as needed. 2. Serve as a spokesperson for the league in crisis situations, managing media inquiries and maintaining public trust and confidence.
Stakeholder Engagement: 1. Engage with stakeholders, including players, coaches, sponsors, partners, and community members, to foster positive relationships and support for the league. 2. Provide regular updates and communications to stakeholders to keep them informed and engaged with league activities and initiatives.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION (minimum) 1. Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related field. 2. Proven experience in PR, communications, or media relations, preferably in the sports industry or event management.
JOB REQUIREMENT (minimum) 1. Strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets 2. Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews 3. Exceptional writing and editing skills 4. Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. 5. Event planning experience 6. A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role. 7. Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous. 8. Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques. 9. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 10. Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure. 11. Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
