JOB DESCRIPTION AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Sango is recruiting a (Senior) Associate to be based either in Johannesburg or Amsterdam. 2. The candidate will be responsible for supporting critical elements of the investment evaluation process for new investments, as well as portfolio management with respect to existing investments. 3. Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background, relevant professional qualifications, and experience in the fields of investment banking, management / strategy consulting, accounting, corporate finance or asset management. 4. Other related experience will also be considered. THIS ROLE WILL INVOLVE 1. Portfolio management of existing private equity (fund) investments in Africa including monitoring, reviewing, assessing and executing investment decisions. 2. Support of the investment team in evaluation and analysis of pipeline investment opportunities, including conducting initial qualitative and quantitative research. 3. Assisting in the underwriting / investment analysis and due diligence processes for shortlisted investment opportunities, including building of operating and financial models and coordination of transaction processes. 4. Supporting portfolio performance monitoring including analysis of key financial and business metrics, and periodically updating portfolio, fund, and company performance tracking templates. 5. Periodic preparation of investor reports and marketing materials for industry or investor events. 6. Preparation of general private equity market, micro and macro-economic, and sector research. 7. Working alongside senior investment team members, fund managers, or company management teams on the development and implementation of specific strategic initiatives. 8. Supporting the structuring, contracting, onboarding, and potential liquidation of private equity (fund) investments.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF IDEAL CANDIDATES 1. Master’s degree 2. Experience in top tier banking, consulting, private equity or similar field 3. Excellent analytical ability and discipline, and an ability to work with complexity 4. Knowledge of corporate finance and familiarity with company valuation techniques 5. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in private equity 6. Excellent written and oral communication & presentation skills 7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders 8. Sound commercial awareness / business acumen 9. An entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability / versatility in problem solving 10. Intellectual curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and ability to think independently 11. Financial modelling and Microsoft skills, particularly in Excel and Power Point 12.
