JOB ROLE:
1. The purpose of the role is to support and maintain AVCA reputation for excellence in research. Contribution to excellence in research will be at the level of a skilled researcher demonstrating a high level of competence.
2. The Research Analyst need several technical skills to succeed in this role.
3. The role requires a strong technical writing skill, an experience of market/industry research techniques,the ability to gather and clean data, and a good understanding of private markets and private capital industry specifically.
4. The role holder will participate in the overall contribution (individual or collaborative) of the research business unit as appropriate.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. We are looking for a highly analytical problem solvers with a financial or economist background for the position of Research Analyst.
2. The Research Analyst will work closely with AVCA’s research team to provide support across a range of projects, including gatheringand cleaning data, analysing industry trends and writing short research pieces. S(he) will support AVCA’s research team through other tasks.
3. The Research Analyst will be:
1) Contributing to multiple research projects at once
2) Carrying out background research and literature reviews
3) Collecting and cleaning data
4) Working with senior researchers to build databases
5) Identifying and analysing trends
6) Writing reports and/or briefs on industry trends
7) Building relationships with AVCA’s members to facilitate AVCA’s data collection effort
8) Tracking industry news and research reports from primary and secondary sources
9) Performing other reasonably related job duties as assigned by the Senior Researchers

| REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
1. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics or related field
2. Min 1-year professional market/industry research experience
3. Good data management skills (ability to manipulate large data sets into clean data sets, manageable and understandable reports)
4. Good writing skills
5. Sound problem-solving skills
6. Attention to detail and excellent organizational/time-management skills
7. Able to build strong links with the rest of the research team and the other business units
8. Good Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint skills
9. Fluency in English
Desirable Skills
1. Strong interest in the development of the African private investment sector
2. Knowledge of private capital industry
3. Fluency in French as a second language
