ROLE OVERVIEW
1. Reporting to the Chief, Financial Institutions and Markets, the Professional is responsible for transactions with financial institutions, with or without sovereign guarantees, and investments in funds.
2. The Professional will undertake all tasks related to project preparation and implementation, including project structuring, execution and monitoring, for all types of financial instruments, which may be offered to financial institutions and fund managers. The financial instrument includes but not limited to long-term senior debt financing, mezzanine debt, subordinated debt, guarantees, as well as investments in equity and infrastructure funds.
3. The Professional will act both as a member of a project team or as a project team leader. The Professional, in his/her role as a project team leader, is expected to take responsibility for effective leadership of his/her project team/s and supervision of junior staff in the team. As a team member the Professional carries out the tasks as part of a project team under the guidance of a project team leader or under the supervision/guidance of the Chief.
4. The Professional is expected to (i) be proficient in appraising and structuring transactions with various types of financial intermediaries and/or fund managers; (ii) ensure that transactions follows sound banking principles and conduct financial, economic and/or technical appraisals of projects according to international best practices; and (iii) work closely with other relevant NDB departments and regional offices.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
1. Structure and execute investment projects with financial institutions and/or fund managers:
1) Work as a project team member with more experienced project team leaders, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution:
i) Support project due diligence and internal approval process, including drafting of internal documents for approval;
ii) Analyse financial statements, prepare project and corporate financial models;
iii) Prepare presentations, memorandums and reports;

2) Work as a project team leader:
i) Lead structuring, negotiation (including review of legal documentation) and the execution of transactions, working with clients, authorities, consultants and internal departments;
ii) Manage the resources and the workload of the project teams under his/her supervision;
iii) Oversee the project due diligence process ensuring it meets NDB standards;

2. Assist with the critical screening of investment opportunities with financial institutions and/or fund managers that is generated through business development efforts of Regional Offices and Centers, liaising with other colleagues and teams within NDB to identify sound and executable investments that meet the mandate of NDB.
3. Monitor project implementation (until first disbursement) as either a project team leader or project team member, taking responsibility for the effective monitoring of all projects with financial institutions and/or fund managers for which the Professional is assigned, including timely preparation of monitoring reports, management of client relationships, resolution of any implementation issues.
4. Other
1) Represent the Department in internal meetings and coordinate project work with other departments through information exchange and internal collaboration.
i) Other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
1. Minimum 5 years of relevant financial industry experience, ideally with a fund manager, asset management firm, institutional investor, investment bank or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards. Practical experience of participating in and leading transactions through the full project life cycle, including transaction structuring, legal documentation negotiation, portfolio monitoring.
2. Specific knowledge of the fund-of-fund’s business model, emerging markets, private equity, venture capital or infrastructure funds would be an advantage.
3. Strong quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
4. Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis for financial institutions.
5. Interest in private equity, venture capital and/or infrastructure funds as an asset class.
6. Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spread sheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
7. Stakeholder management skills.
8. Relationship management and negotiation skills.
9. Ability to work to deadlines and under time pressure.
10. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
11. Fluent in one of the NDB member countries languages.
12. Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a reputed university. Relevant certification(s) from globally recognized certification agencies in the related field would be preferred, such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA.
