ABOUT
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are recruiting a Graphic Design Officer based in the Visibility Unit, which is responsible for the Center’s institutional communications and manages the APHRC brand.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create innovative and engaging graphics, reports, manuals, and other design products that align with the Center’s goals and branding guidelines tailored to a range of audiences.
2. Develop infographics and other visual aids to enhance the presentation of data and information.
3. Assist in multimedia productions, including photography, videography, and editing.
4. Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
5. Provide general administrative support to communications activities as needed.
6. Animation and Motion graphics will be an added advantage

| REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Bachelor’s degree/HND/Diploma in Graphic Design, animation, or any related field.
2. At least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
3. Proficiency in multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) or equivalent tools.
4. Basic knowledge of data archiving techniques and software.
5. Visual media skills, including use of still and video camera.
6. Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design projects and styles.
7. Solid understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout techniques.
8. Excellent communication, interpersonal, creative, and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to work within a culturally diverse team.
