MAIN JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:
Play a role in the implementation of the lending policies and procedures in the company by monitoring the company’s adherence to the Credit Appetite thresholds, best credit underwriting practices and carrying out continuous credit assessments on credit products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DIMENSIONS
Key Responsibilities
1. Actively participate in the company’s credit underwriting process and identify, measure and report credit exposures related to all categories of credit facilities and products offered by the company to its customers.
2. Participate in credit monitoring related meetings to ensure that set credit appetite parameters are adhered to.
3. Participate in the review of the credit related lending processes to ensure that adequate controls are in place to identify, monitor and control s associated with the credit processes.
4. Generate regular reports that monitor the credit exposures that the company faces while reviewing and updating the company’s Key Register.
5. Prepare monthly loan classification and impairment in accordance with the applicable financial reporting standards.
6. Assist in reviewing credit related internal policies, procedures, new products & services, and make recommendations for enhancement of credit controls and mitigation as appropriate.
7. Carry out periodic control sample testing reviews of credit/ loan products and ensure that the requirements of the lending policies are complied with.
8. Review periodically credit collaterals and instruments held to ensure that credit covenants are adhered to, they are held safely, and all potential s mitigated via control sample checking.
9. Assist the Head of Credit & Operations in drafting board quarterly reports on credit exposures.
10. Assist the Head of Credit & Operations to train staff on Credit Management techniques and internal appetite limits creating the awareness expected.
11. Work with Business, LMU and SOU Departments within the company to enhance the company’s and overall credit mitigation strategies and tools.

13. Attending relevant training on emerging trends and practices within credit management.
14. Network within the profession and relevant associations to keep abreast with industry and the profession.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
JOB COMPETENCIES (Qualifications, Experience).
Academic Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in applied sciences, finance, economics, engineering, insurance, mathematics, risk management, or statistics.
2. Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, insurance, mathematics, risk management, or statistics.
3. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute; or

Previous relevant work experience required.
1. Degree in a business-related field from a recognized institution.
2. 3 years’ work credit operations or credit analysis
3. Training in credit analysis will be an added advantage or certification in management from an accredited institution.
4. Possess analytical and problem-solving competencies.
5. Articulate with excellent communication and report writing skills.
6. A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Highly organized, thorough, quality conscious with a structured and disciplined approach to work.
8. Ability to develop quantitative measurement tools and analyze large amount of data.
9. Excellent knowledge of credit underwriting best practices.
