MAIN JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Accra, Ghana

JOB SUMMARY
1. The Value Chain Officer will be responsible for leading the implementation of assigned value chain interventions and programs.
2. The incumbent will identify roadblocks, analyze, and escalate them to the specific experts and lead for expert support.
3. In addition, the Value Chain Officer will be responsible for engaging with external stakeholders and leading the development of the assigned value chains.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Value Chain Officer is the following (on a need basis):
1. Lead program design
2. Ensure program / interventions delivery
3. Coordinate workload among the Analysts

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under close guidance from the Agriculture Lead, the Value Chain Officer will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement value chain specific interventions and overall programs for assigned value chains.
2. Ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day implementation of value chain specific interventions and overall programs for the assigned value chains.
3. Identify, analyse, and escalate roadblocks related to the assigned value chains to the specific experts and lead for expert support.
4. Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders involved in the assigned value chains, including farmers, processors, traders, retailers, and policymakers.
5. Lead engagement with external stakeholders for the assigned value chains, including organizing workshops, meetings, and other events.
6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of value chain specific interventions and overall programs for the assigned value chains and make recommendations for improvements.
7. Collect and analyse data related to the assigned value chains, including market trends, production volumes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to the assigned value chains.
9. Develop and maintain databases and systems to support value chain specific interventions and overall programs for the assigned value chains
10. Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders related to the assigned value chains.
11. Manage budgets related to value chain specific interventions and overall programs for the assigned value chains.
12. Prepare reports and presentations related to the assigned value chains for internal and external stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
A University bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Management or Economics or a discipline related to agriculture / assigned value chains.

Work experience
1. For those with undergraduate degree will possess at least five years relevant professional experience and those with postgraduate degree will possess plus three (3) years of relevant work experience in experience in agriculture private sector (preferably in assigned value chain)
2. An international experience would be an added advantage.

9. Exceptionally high level of motivation
10. Proficiency in one of the AU officials working languages (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese and Spanish) and fluency in another AU language(s) is an added advantage.
