DEPARTMENT/DIVISION/UNIT: Corporate JOB CLASSIFICATION Professional Staff 3 LOCATION: Lagos REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: • Functionally Reports To: The Board • Administratively Reports To: The Board WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: • Internal All Staff • External Clients and contractors JOB OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for ensuring company compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations as it related to environmental management and responsible waste management and disposal
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Develop and enforce environmental guidelines and practices 2. Review and recommend improvements to existing environmental procedures and programs for compliance assurance 3. Generate environmental reports as requested by regulatory agencies. 4. Provide guidance and direction to management for ensuring environmental compliance 5. Prepare permit applications and agreements as needed by regulatory agencies. 6. Obtain, maintain, modify and renew environmental permits and licenses. 7. Work with emergency response team to address environmental incidents such as chemical leaks and spills. 8. Maintaining accurate records related to chemical inventories, work wing with and disposal of hazardous wastes 9. Identify and solve environmental violations. 10. Conduct regular environmental inspections to determine pollution level. 11. Investigate environmental accidents and propose corrective actions. 12. Investigating employee complaints concerning exposure to hazardous materials or air pollutants 13. Oversee waste disposal and pollution control programs. 14. Carry out planned air quality checks and surveillance to determine existence or otherwise of air pollutants to avoid/minimise exposure to personnel 15. Educate workers on environmental health and safety procedures. 16. Performing related field work as required. 17. Submitting clear and concise written reports based on field inspections. 18. Recommending and coordinating the development of programs needed by company to comply with hazardous materials regulations. 19. Recommend PPEs to ensure compliance with personnel environmental exposures 20. Providing coordination with regulatory agencies in regard to hazardous materials. 21. Plans for spill minimization and enforcement on site 22. Waste minimization Plan 23. Performing other duties as assigned. 24. Coordinate Environmental drills – as required Key Performance Indicators/Performance Goals: 1. Valid/Current State and Federal Environmental Compliance Certificates 2. Renew environmental permits and licenses. 3. Environmental Performance monitoring – and submission of Monthly Environmental Report and analysis to HSE Mgr. 4. Updated records of all Hazardous substances and chemicals 5. Monthly Air Quality Reports 6. Monthly environmental exposure reports 7. Review/update Environmental Policies/Procedures in accordance with current legislations/requirements 8. Updated records of all General/Hazardous – on the client WCN 9. Register of all hazardous chemicals with SDS/SHOC

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education Qualification: BSC in Environmental or Biological Science, or any other related discipline
Professional Qualification: Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Certification or any other relevant approved professional safety and environment qualification. Experience 1. Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in direct site environmental management position - preferably in an oil and gas sector. 2. Ability to understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes. 3. Experience in inspecting for hazardous materials and understanding 4. Working knowledge of hazardous materials including hazardous wastes, asbestos, and other hazardous pollutants processes which can produce hazardous wastes and hazardous air pollutants. KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS: Functional/Technical: Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of consistency, accuracy and quality is essential
Managerial: 1. Good communication and team building skills – well able to lead and gain the respect of both own team members and 3rd parties (both internally and externally). 2. Ability to improvise/prioritise with little notice without losing attention to detail. 3. Proven track record of managing multicultural teams. Behavioural: 1. Self starter, results-driven and focused on delivery of quality deliverables on time and within budget. 2. Able to hold own ground when challenged but can present a balanced view in putting arguments forward.
