DESCRIPTION Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager that contributes to Africa's growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalysing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding. Africa50 has raised over US$870 million so far from 30 African governments, the African Development Bank, and institutional investors, and intends to reach a target capitalization of US$3 billion. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across four core infrastructure sectors: energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), midstream gas, transportation, ICT, health and education.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Investment Associate role is to identify and execute on project development investments. 1. Participate in developing a strong pipeline of opportunities by anticipating market trends and leveraging sector, sponsor, and country knowledge. 2. Lead the structuring of project development and equity investments. 3. Participate in and/or lead negotiations with sponsors, lenders, and public authorities. 4. Lead Africa50's contribution to the development of projects in the portfolio, focusing on achieving bankable projects. 5. Maintain a good understanding of project and concession financing, as well as policy issues. 6. Prepare project-related documents for both internal and external audiences. 7. Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and global infrastructure companies, banking and multilateral partners, and government officials. 8. Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the power and transport sectors, including major market operators and technologies. 9. Contribute to the supervision of portfolio companies

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
CANDIDATE PROFILE Required background 1. 6 to 10 years of investment and industry experience in project development, investment, and/or project finance in the power and/or transport sectors within: 1) A utility or concessions company 2) The project finance, infrastructure, or power department of a Tier 1 international investment bank 3) The infrastructure department at a Development Finance Institution 4) The infrastructure or PPP department of a transaction or financial advisory firm 5) An infrastructure private equity fund with exposure to early to mid-stage project development 2. MBA, MSc, or equivalent qualification from a Tier 1 university 3. Project management experience 4. Solid understanding of Concession agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts 5. Demonstrated track record of closing transactions 6. Awareness of the latest trends and developments in infrastructure financing Essential Qualities 1. Positive attitude 2. Integrity 3. Strong understanding of the power and transport sectors 4. Solid knowledge of PPP project structuring and project finance 5. Proven business development and client relationship skills with a focus on addressing clients’ needs and identifying potential business partners 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in French and Portuguese is a plus 7. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with sponsors, partners, and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds; experience living in emerging countries is a plus 8. Prior knowledge of African infrastructure and existing relationships in Africa are a strong advantage
LOCATION The position will be based in Casablanca.
