JOB DESCRIPTION
1. The ICT Project Manager (PM) will implement Information Technology (IT) initiatives that improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business efficiency in a constantly changing environment.
2. The Project Manager will take lead in the project management of information systems to support the organisation’s internal and external business operations and models.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ICT Project Initiation
1. Contribute to strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of the information and technology systems for the DBSA group.
2. Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for project.
3. Contribute towards development and maintenance of enterprise systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection of DBSA network information systems.
4. Implement and maintain information systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems.
5. Negotiate Information Technology implementation contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of other management team members as appropriate.
6. Communicate ICT implementation plans and policies to project sponsors.
7. Implement appropriate ICT project progress reporting to the project sponsor and project team
8. Approve, coordinate, and control all projects related to selection, acquisition and development of major information systems for the DBSA group.
9. Negotiates Information Technology service level agreements with Service Providers and monitors Information Technology systems performance to assure service levels are met.
10. Researches and evaluates alternatives for the enhancement or re-engineering of Information Technolog projects.
11. Implements an appropriate Information Technology Governance Framework and ensures compliance to this framework.

Project Management
1. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
2. Provides quality service to end users in needs analysis, solution recommendation, vendor selection, implementation, training, and post-installation support.
3. Ensures that information systems operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, and legal requirements.
4. Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
5. Responsible for monitoring managing project budget.
6. Analyses project profitability, revenue, margins and utilisation.
7. Responsible for Information Technology project activities and costs as related to the overall utilisation of resources required to meet strategic and operational requirements.
8. Understands pricing model and billing procedures.
9. Assures project legal documents are completed and signed.
10. Accountable for leading and managing small to medium Information and Communication Technology projects
11. Implement divisional objectives and targets for inclusion in the organisational balanced scorecard
12. Implement project according to scope and budget. (Varies from project to project but not more than R5m per project).
13. Reviews deliverables prepared by team.
14. Prepare monthly and weekly progress report to team and project sponsor.
15. Communicate to all team members.
16. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
17. Prepare project related report and motivations.
18. Prepare Procurement Committee documents.
19. Prepare project Service Level Agreement in line with the overall Service Level Agreement of the group.
20. Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
21. Holds regular status meetings with project team.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
EXPERTISE & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Minimum Requirements
1. A post graduate degree in ICT, Commerce or Engineering.
2. Project Management qualification (PMBOK or Prince or Similar).
3. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the management of Information and Communication Technology projects.
4. A minimum of 5 years in managing medium sized projects in an Information and Communication Technology environment.
5. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a specialist position/s in a comparable environment.

2. Uses estimating techniques and develops project risk management approaches.
3. Has an in-depth and practical understanding of how to maximize the effectiveness of project teams.
