MAIN JOB DESCRIPTION
LOCATION: Kenya
REPORTS TO: Project Manager/Operations and Maintenance Manager

JOB PURPOSE
1. The Site Engineer will oversee the day-to-day activities on-site, ensuring that road construction, maintenance, and repair work align with technical specifications, project schedules, and safety standards.
2. This role involves collaboration with engineers, contractors, and site workers to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Supervision and Execution:
1. Monitor road construction and maintenance work on-site to ensure compliance with technical drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
2. Oversee subcontractors and ensure they adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
3. Inspect ongoing activities and ensure proper use of materials and adherence to industry practices.
4. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality, resolving any onsite issues promptly.

Planning and Coordination:
1. Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance activities, ensuring preventive and reactive work is conducted effectively.
2. Liaise with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of project phases.
3. Prepare detailed progress reports and submit updates to the Project Manager.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:
1. Ensure construction and maintenance activities comply with national codes, environmental policies, and local regulations.
2. Conduct quality inspections and tests to verify the integrity of road surfaces, drainage systems, and other structures.
3. Maintain project records, including inspection reports, safety checklists, and test data.

Safety and Risk Management:
1. Ensure all workers comply with safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
2. Identify potential risks and hazards on-site and recommend preventive actions.
3. Monitor traffic management on-site to ensure minimal disruption and safety for workers and road users.

Reporting and Documentation:
1. Maintain detailed project records, including progress reports, quality inspection logs, and site diaries.
2. Prepare technical reports, project updates, and risk assessments for senior management.
3. Ensure all project documentation complies with local regulations and audit requirements.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 0–2 years of experience in road construction or civil engineering projects.
3. Familiarity with road construction methods, materials, and equipment.
4. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, or other project management tools.
5. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
6. Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
7. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

1. Primarily on-site with exposure to varying weather conditions.
2. Ability to work overtime or during weekends if required to meet project deadlines.
3. May involve travel to other project sites as needed.
