The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa.
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in collaboration with LVCT Health, BRAC University, Bangladesh; and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) implementing a multi-country community-based participatory research (CBPR) project, the NIHR-SHINE, titled, “Strengthening Community Health Systems by Addressing Community Health Volunteers’ Mental Health and wellbeing, and agency: A mixed Methods Study in Urban Informal Settlements and Rural Kenya.” The study aims to co-develop, pilot, and adopt a holistic health systems support package that integrates psychosocial support to ensure Community Health Promoters’ well-being and agency in challenging contexts such as urban informal settlements and rural settings and ultimately improve health systems resilience in Kenya. In Kenya, the study is being implemented by the APHRC in collaboration with LVCT Health in Nairobi City County’s informal settlements and rural Kiambu County.
We seek to recruit qualified quantitative field interviewers who reside in Nairobi and rural Kiambu counties where the study’s Baseline Survey is planned to take place in January and February 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in training and data collection for the project. Identifying study boundaries and participants as defined in the study.
2. Consenting study participants.
3. Conducting face-to-face interviews with sampled participants as sampled for the study.
4. Ensuring the agreed daily output set for the study is met.
5. Ensuring quality output and adhering to data governance and ethical principles.
6. Review all completed interviews for the day to ensure completeness and internal consistency before data is synchronized.
7. Compiling and submitting daily work progress reports to the immediate supervisor.
8. Reviewing and correcting inconsistencies identified from data quality checks from the database.
9. Ensuring the safety of all survey tools and equipment as may be assigned for use in the study.Attending and participating in all routine project meetings
10. Ensuring that study participants in the assigned sample list are fully accounted for by the end of the data collection period.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
Minimum Requirements:
1. Must have at least a KCSE (C+) and above.
2. Be proficient in microcomputer applications and experienced in electronic data capture.
3. Be fluent in English and Kiswahili or Kikuyu for Kiambu applicants.
4. Possess strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and facilitation skills.
5. Have proven experience in quantitative and qualitative or community-based participatory
research methods.
6. Proven experience working in mixed methods research projects on mental health or projects involving community health volunteers.
7. Proven experience working with households in informal settlements and rural contexts.
8. Be prepared to work full-time on the project for the study duration.
