JOB DESCRIPTION The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a state owned organisation. We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services. GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-funded tender: “Technical Assistance for the development of eco-tourism in Malawi”. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to Malawi’s sustainable development of the ecotourism sector.
Its specific objectives are: 1. Specific Objective 1: Develop diversified and sustainable natural resource-based tourism products with and for rural communities, with a priority for women and youth, 2. Specific Objective 2: Institutions at national, district and local levels better manage natural and cultural resources for tourism, 3. Specific Objective 3: Promote Malawi as an ecotourism destination on domestic, regional and international markets.
YOUR TASKS The Key expert 2: Tourism Product Development and Marketing Expert will be responsible for the implementation of activities related to tourism product development and marketing.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE Qualification and skills 1. At least a Bachelor’s degree in tourism management, marketing and promotion, tourism development or other relevant, directly related discipline; 2. Fluent in English (at least C1 level; Language levels are defined for understanding, speaking and writing skills by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages available at https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr and should be demonstrated by certificates or by past relevant experience). General professional experience 1. Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience working in the tourism sector, preferably ecotourism, 2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Governments, international partners, private sector operators and local communities. 3. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in providing technical assistance for public authorities and agencies in tourism marketing and promotion and product development. 4. Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in development cooperation projects, preferably EU funded. Specific professional experience 1. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working on tourism marketing and promotion projects, preferably ecotourism, 2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working on development of ecotourism or sustainable tourism products and tourism services, 3. Must have experience in working on community-based tourism projects, 4. Must have experience in any of these areas and complementary to KE1: ecotourism standards and certification; or in tourism statistics. 5. Experience of working in SADC or EAC tourism destinations is an asset.
