As a federal enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mali country package aims to contribute to sustainable rural development in selected regions of Mali by introducing innovations. The main focus of the project is on promoting small farms and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as strengthening farmers’ organisations and associations along the rice, potato/vegetable and mango value chains. Special importance is attached to appropriate mechanisation, the introduction of innovative technologies in the field of renewable energy and organic farming.
YOUR TASKS
1. Heading a team of six national experts
2. Further conceptual development of the priority areas (agricultural mechanisation and renewable energy), and coordination to ensure coherent implementation in consultation with the officer responsible for implementation and the technical project staff in the three value chains covered
3. Planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities in cooperation with the other components of the project and integration of the priority areas into the value chains covered
4. Supporting the further development and implementation of the country package’s scaling up strategy
5. Coordinating activities with other GIZ programmes and projects and with donor organisations
6. Collaboration within national and international working groups and networks and other relevant dialogue forums

| REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE
1. A university degree in agricultural science, environmental technology or energy management, or a comparable qualification
2. Several years of professional experience in international cooperation in rural areas, preferably in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa
3. Experience of managing development projects
4. Sound knowledge of renewable energy or mechanisation, ideally in the application of renewable technologies and the use of agricultural machinery in the value chains covered
5. The ability to familiarise yourself swiftly with new contexts and good self-organisation skills
6. Exemplary intercultural sensitivity, the ability to work in a team, flexibility and the ability to deal with stress
7. Fluent business French and German and a good command of English
NOTES
The successful candidate will be required to travel regularly to the project intervention areas.
