GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-project tender: „Technical Assistance to Support EU-Coffee Action for Ethiopia”.

The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows: "To sustainably increase incomes among Ethiopian smallholder coffee growers and processors "I is further decomposed into the following two specific objectives (SOs):

SOL: Capacitated public- private actors are able to provide, through farmer organizations, an efficient extension service, input support and technologies adapted to all coffee farmer needs and to evolving international certification requirements including organic and climate friendly techniques.

SO; National coffee sector development and marketing strategies are efficiently implemented and gaps in governance are addressed

The purpose of this contract is to provide technical support to the EU-Coffee grant project lead and co- applicants to strengthen their planning and coffee sector management capacities required for the successful implementation of coffee development, research, value chain development, and market promotion & regulation.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications & Skills
1. At least first degree from accredited university; preferably, MSc, or equivalent, in coflee agronomy (best agronomic practices), extension systems (best extension practices), Geography, or Environmental Sciences,
2. In depth understanding of EU/EDF procedures that qualifies to provide support and capacity building on operational and (inancial management ol EU Action Granis including procurement procedures;
3. Fluent in English (writing, speaking, understanding);
4. Motivated, focused, hard-working, and cager to learn;
5. Able to work independently, flexibly and responsively
General Professional experience
1. A minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in supporting coffee agronomy, extension and/or value chain development undertakings, of which 4 years are in coffee krowing countries;
2. Proven experience in supporting establishment of grassroots level agri-business organizational arrangements to enhance coffee productivity, quality and marketing;
3. Proven understanding of the Gl protocol development for agricultural products;
4. Proven experience in developing and/or establishing workable agricultural extension systems; - Proven experience in assisting EU financed Action Grants under the EDF financial instrument; - Strong presentation & writing skills,
5. Strong computer skills, including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel,
6. Excellent administrative, reporting, and communication skills,
7. Strong ability to adapt to changing working conditions, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Specific professional experience
1. Work Experience in best agronomic and extension communication practices, and value chain development including marketing; Experience in farm level agribusiness collective organizational arrangements;
2. Experience in GI protocol development for agricultural products;
3. In depth understanding of EU EDF procedures to support and build capacities of beneficiaries in operational and financial management of EU Action Grants including procurement procedures;
4. Proven experience to guide agricultural baseline data collection, analysis and compilation; Strong aptitude for using MS Office Suite, in particular MS Excel;
5. Detail-oriented, ability to work in a team environment and plan and deliver training in the areas of good agronomic practices, good extension practices, and EDF procedures as applied 10 Action Grant;
6. A robust design, analytical and quantitative skills.

LOCATION INFORMATION
The intended start date is January 06, 2020 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 42 months from this date.
