GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-project tender: „Technical Assistance to Support EU-Coffee Action for Ethiopia”.
The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows: "To sustainably increase incomes among Ethiopian smallholder coffee growers and processors "I is further decomposed into the following two specific objectives (SOs): SOL: Capacitated public- private actors are able to provide, through farmer organizations, an efficient extension service, input support and technologies adapted to all coffee farmer needs and to evolving international certification requirements including organic and climate friendly techniques. SO; National coffee sector development and marketing strategies are efficiently implemented and gaps in governance are addressed
The purpose of this contract is to provide technical support to the EU-Coffee grant project lead and co- applicants to strengthen their planning and coffee sector management capacities required for the successful implementation of coffee development, research, value chain development, and market promotion & regulation.

YOUR PROFILE Qualifications & Skills 1. At least first degree from accredited university; preferably MA, MSc, or equivalent in Geographic Information System (GIS), IS’/IT, Geography, or Environmental Science with a certificate;- Knowledge of farm level agribusiness management solutions to facilitate farmers’ use of such solutions for enhanced performance;- Motivated, focused, hard-working, and eager to learn; 2. Ablle to work independently, fexibly and responsively. 3. Fluent in English (writing, speaking, understanding), 4. Strong aptitude in GIS and other related information sciences 10 help develop a user-friendly web based interactive coffee statistics database and coffee extension system.
General Professional experience 1. A minimum of 10 years hands-on experience in developing and/or guiding use of IT/GIS’GI system and farm level agribusiness solutions for agri-business in a developing country context; 2. Strong presentation & writing skills, 3. Strong computer skills, including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel, 4. Excellent administrative, reporting, and communication skills, 5. Strong ability to adapt to changing working conditions, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Specific professional experience 1. Experience working with Geographic Information System (GIS) software, web GIS and geodatabase management applications products suite, preferably with ArcGIS Desktop with 3D Analyst & Spatial Analyst Extensions, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server (including SDE database connections) and other GIS software such as Google Earth, Surfer software, 2. Experience in Gl system development for agricultural products; 3. Experience in guiding farm level adoption of agribusiness management solutions; 4. Experience in web-based interactive database and extension system development; 5. Experience with Trimble software products suite, preferably with TerraSync and Pathfinder Office/Positions; 6. Strong aptitude for using MS Office Suite, in particular MS Excel 7. Detail-oriented, ability to work in a team environment and assist with training as needed 8. A demonstrated design, analytical and quantitative skills 9. Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of office and specialized equipment in the performance of job tasks, including, GPS, computers and peripherals such as plotters, printers and scanners 10. Experience in design management and implementation of’ agriculture monitoring and geospatial- based projects and programs. 11. Location information 12. The intended start date is January 06, 2020 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 42 months from this date.
