JOB DESCRIPTION The transitional development assistance (TDA) project financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) "Strengthening capacities for conflict resolution in Central Nigeria" aims to establish the conditions for a de-escalation of the violent conflicts in Plateau State and one other state in Central Nigeria (Middle Belt).
Violent conflicts over access to land between (semi-)nomadic herders and sedentary agrarian communities have escalated in recent years, threatening the country’s security and stability. The project focuses on the de-escalation and prevention of a further violent escalation of the conflict with activities in 3 areas. To this end, strategies and plans for fair access to land will be developed, conflict resolution mechanisms established and the productivity of agricultural land use increased. The project has a duration of 4 years(until 10/2023).
YOUR TASKS 1. Technical, commercial and organizational implementation of the project 2. Professional and disciplinary management of the national and international project personnel 3. Coordination of external short-term specialists and contractual partners 4. Budgetary planning and financial monitoring of the project funds 5. Coordination of consulting services for the project partners 6. Quality assurance of consulting services, gender-sensitive impact monitoring, surveys and knowledge 7. management 8. REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. University degree in political science, economics or social sciences or another related field development development cooperation 2. Experience of coordination in an international context 3. Fluent in English; good knowledge of German is an advantage 4. Ability to work in a team, social and intercultural sensitivity, organizational skills and flexibility 5. Excellent management, organizational and networking skills 6. This position requires regular travels within Nigeria. Due to the sometimes tense security situation in specific regions of the country, risk management recommendations have to be adhered to at all times.
