MAIN JOB DESCRIPTION |
Job-ID: P1490V1328 Location: Freetown, Monrovia Assignment period: 03/01/2020 - 08/31/2020 Field: Trainees Type of employment: full-time Application deadline: 12/02/2019
JOB DESCRIPTION The four member states of the Mano River Union (MRU: Côte d´Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone) are among the least developed countries in the world. Their political and socio-economic conditions are shaped largely by mineral and natural resources. In this context, it is promising that all four states have begun reforming their minerals sectors in recent years.
Although reforms have already been implemented, some of the key elements required to ensure that the extractives sector contributes to sustainable development are still lacking. The objective of the Regional Resource Governance Program is that the extractive sector in the MRU countries is geared to a greater degree towards the principles of social, ecological and economic sustainability. It supports partners in their efforts to reduce their dependence on external assistance in the long term and to mitigate risks arising from the mining sector. To this end, it applies a multi-stakeholder approach to cooperate with governments, civil society and the private sector at the regional, national and local level.
YOUR TASKS 1. Support technical staff of the program in the planning and implementation of activities and workshops, which includes accompanying them to meetings with stakeholders in government institutions, private sector and NGOs 2. Support the design and implementation of knowledge management and monitoring & evaluation 3. Support communications (collect materials and information, write articles and blogs) and the publication of a short monthly press review. 4. Support reporting on activities (internal reporting and for funding institutions) 5. Do research and draft briefing notes on specific topics and gather/complete data 6. If possible, accompany field visits 7. Support the project managers in organizing internal trainings for GIZ national staff. Potentially provide the training for colleagues 8. Any other tasks as the need arises
