JOB DESCRIPTION The objective of the project is to improve the livelihood of the population in the border area of Benishangul-Gumuz/Ethiopia and Blue Nile State/Sudan. The EU and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) commissioned GIZ to implement activities in various sectors. One important intervention is the promotion of vocational education.
The Vocational Training Center (VCT) in the capital city Ed Damazin in the Blue Nile State in Sudan shall be supported by the project to provide various vocational training and apprenticeship activities.
YOUR TASKS 1. Advise on procurement, installment and usage of equipment and machineries for the workshops 2. Provide training of Trainers (T.O.T) for local trainers/teachers 3. Assist in training of students 4. Adjust the curriculum according to needs of the local market 5. Improve the quality of training methodology 6. Contribute to capacity development of the VCT 7. Facilitate close cooperation with stakeholders in the private and state led business sector 8. Support upgrading of the VTC

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. Master craftsman or vocational teacher in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or skilled worker in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with training experience 2. Knowledge in layout and furnishing teaching workshops 3. Very good knowledge and practical skills in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 4. Skills in general electrics and/or water & sanitation are assets 5. Good practical experience in transferring knowledge to technically low-educated people 6. Intercultural awareness 7. Fluent in English (oral and written); Arabic language skills are a welcome asset
LOCATION INFORMATION The GIZ offers an additional benefits package for deployments in fragile security situations. The duty station Ed Damazin in the Blue Nile State/Sudan is not a family station due to the fragility of the region. Though the security situation in the state has recently improved significantly and a professional safety and risk manager is part of the project team, a regulation for compensated time off for experts working in the Blue Nile State is currently in place. The expert is expected to undertake duty travels to Ethiopia to provide support for vocational training in the Benishangul-Gumuz project area.
Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office.
GIZ runs a professional security risk management system in the field of deployment. It is not possible for life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment.
