FIELD OF ACTIVITY The four member states of the Mano River Union (MRU: Côte d´Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone) are among the least developed countries in the world. Their political and socio-economic conditions are shaped largely by mineral and natural resources. In this context, it is promising that all four states have begun reforming their minerals sectors in recent years. Although reforms have already been implemented, some of the key elements required to ensure that the extractives sector contributes to sustainable development are still lacking. The objective of the Regional Resource Governance Program is that the extractive sector in the MRU countries is geared to a greater degree towards the principles of social, ecological and economic sustainability. It supports partners in their efforts to reduce their dependence on external assistance in the long term and to mitigate risks arising from the mining sector. To this end, it applies a multi-stakeholder approach to cooperate with governments, civil society and the private sector at the regional, national and local level. The project is co-financed by the European Union (EU), 70% of the advertised position is financed by the EU. YOUR TASKS 1. Technical coordination of the measures for the implementation of the EU co-financing as well as with relevant colleagues in the program 2. Coordination of a regional dialogue to formalise the extraction and trade of artisanal raw materials 3. Coordination of networking and cooperation with international initiatives to combat trade in conflict minerals and certification of supply chains 4. Expert advice and networking for the implementation of the Kimberley Process requirements at regional and national level 5. Advising on strengthening transparency and accountability initiatives 6. Advising the Mining, Tax and/or Environmental authorities on improving state supervision in Sierra Leone 7. Management of information and knowledge as well as monitoring of the above-mentioned work packages 8. Contributions to reporting and professional development of the above-mentioned work packages
