Reports to: Monitoring and Evaluation and Knowledge Management Leader
Location: Remote working

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL: https://mel.cgiar.org) is a multi-center and multi-Research Program online platform for integrated management and monitoring of, and reporting on projects, from planning to budgeting, risks’ assessment, knowledge sharing and more. MEL creates synergy between research and development partners, bridging competences in a results-oriented platform. MEL allows savings of resources and time, reducing paperwork, facilitating administrative steps, quickening project-related communications, and enabling near real-time data collecting to inform decision-making.

For the further development of this platform, ICARDA seeks to hire a self-driven and competent ‘MEL Research Fellow’.
The aim of ICARDA’ research fellowship program is to promote a better understanding of CGIAR, to provide assistance to ICARDA of young researchers specializing in fields relevant to its activities, and to offer an exceptional first employment experience to young graduates.

The selected talented individual, under the guidance of the M&E, KM Leader, will contribute to the design and enhancement of web-based institutional platforms, bridging information and data to enhance the worldwide use of ICARDA’s institutional knowledge and expertise.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review project and indicators structure in order to ensure harmonization across levels.
2. Review projects and provide MEL-related support to teams when developing new initiatives.
3. Learn about relevant methods, tools and skills used in a web-based information system environment and apply these to unit efforts to enhance the web-based MEL platform.
4. Support the user-based testing and piloting of the new features to enhance web-based MEL platform.
5. Enter the catalogued data into the web-based MEL platform being developed and tested by the unit.
6. Link data to program outputs (reports, publications, briefs, datasets, photos, tools, etc.) available in the existing Partners’ repositories (DSPACE, DATAVERSE, etc).
7. Support the Plan of Work Budget and Annual Report processes.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential qualifications and competencies
1. Master’s degree in relevant field with demonstrated interest in the field.
2. Young graduates with up to 3 years of work experience.
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
4. Strong computer skills, including in using MS Office, and familiarity with web-based platforms.
5. Strong organisational skills and attention to details
6. Knowledge of or experience working on international development issues, especially in areas related to ICARDA’s mandate.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
The research fellowship is carried out remotely and is home-based. ICARDA will provide the successful candidate with a stipend.
