JOB DESCRIPTION The Project "Improvement of the Framework Conditions for a competitive Private and Financial Sector", which is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU) aims to improve income and employment in rural areas of Mozambique. The work of the project focusses in three areas: 1. Improvement of the business climate, 2. Private sector development through upgrading of value chains and 3. Improvement of financial services and access to the formal financial sector. Current work is concentrated at national level and in the provinces of Inhambane, Manica, Sofala, Nampula and Zambezia.
YOUR TASKS 1. Organizational and capacity development of partner organizations at provincial level to link micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in rural areas to financial institutions 2. Support to partner organizations in promoting financial literacy amongst MSMEs in rural areas 3. Identification and analysis of possibilities to link rural target groups to the formal financial sector 4. Provision of inputs for development of innovative financial products, taking into consideration the demands of different partners (including partners in value chains/inclusive business models)

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB |
YOUR PROFILE 1. Academic degree in Economics, Banking, Rural Finance or International Development- Professional experience in financial systems development and digital financial services and/or rural finance, preferably in low income countries 2. Experience in building networks among different partners / organizations 3. Ability to communicate and work in an intercultural environment with different stakeholders 4. Fluent in English and knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish is necessary
LOCATION INFORMATION 1. Place of residence: Inhambane, Mozambique (regular work place in programme office in Inhambane, regular travels to the involved municipalities) 2. Climate: Tropical with risk of Malaria 3. Healthcare: Basic, further medical treatment possible in Maputo and South Africa 4. Shopping: Limited, but sufficient for daily needs, further possibilities in Maputo and South Africa 5. Accessibility: Seven hours by car, one hour flight from Maputo 6. School situation: international school up to grade 7; school fees to be reimbursed according to GIZ regulations 7. Security: The security situation requires increased alertness. There are special security risk mitigation measures applying to GIZ staff on-site. All staff must follow GIZ security instructions at any time.
