A country package of the “Global Programme Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security” was commissioned, looking particularly into inclusive planning with the communities for climate adapted land rehabilitation and use option. The “Afar Soil Rehabilitation Project” uses a landscape-based approach to make floods more usable for productive use of land resources in these dry valleys by applying in particular water-spreading weirs (WSW) and other soil and water-conserving measures.
