JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project "Improvement of the Framework Conditions for a competitive Private and Financial Sector", which is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU) aims to improve income and employment in rural areas of Mozambique. The work of the project focusses in three areas: 1. Improvement of the business climate, 2. Private sector development through upgrading of value chains and 3. Improvement of financial services and access to the formal financial sector. Current work is concentrated at national level and in the provinces of Inhambane, Manica, Sofala, Nampula and Zambezia.

YOUR TASKS
1. Organizational and capacity development of partner organizations at provincial level to linik MSMEs in rural areas to financial institutions
2. Support to partner organizations in promoting financial literacy amongst MSMEs in rural areas
3. Identification and analysis of possibilities to link rural target groups to the formal financial sector
4. Provision of inputs for development of innovative financial products, taking into consideration the demands of different partners (including partners in value chains/inclusive business models)
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS JOB
YOUR PROFILE
1. Academic degree in Economics, Banking, Rural Finance or International Development- Professional experience in financial systems development and digital financial services and/or rural finance, preferably in low income countries
2. Experience in building networks among different partners / organizations is required
3. Ability to communicate and work in an intercultural environment with different stakeholders
4. Experience as an advisor or consulting services is essential
5. Fluent in English. Knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish is necessary.
LOCATION INFORMATION
The site of Beira is the capital of the province of Sofala, which was hit by a cyclone in March 2019. The reconstruction work is underway and life is slowly returning to normal. There is a tropical climate with high humidity in summer. A provincial hospital and two private clinics are available, as well as local markets and supermarkets with European products. There is a Portuguese and an international school, each with a kindergarten. Mobility to some districts is still limited after the cyclone; The partner institutions are, however, easily accessible.
